Default driver side bolt test pipe hfc install

i am installing some HFC's on my Z. I got 5 out of the 6 bolts off. I am having trouble with the last driver side bolt that is pointed toward the hood of the car (all the others were easy). i tried a "s" wrench but that didnt work. I was thinking about dropping $30+ for a halfmoon or crescent wrench but to see if that would work. I've only tried from the bottom so far. When i searched i read that some take the air intake off and get it from the top. Any suggestions so i dont lose my min or bust any more knuckles??

dont get a crescent. i just used a ratchet and i think a regular socket (not deep). theres not much room but fiddle around, you should get it. the bolt isnt too tight(mines an 03 and i didnt install till this summer) good luck

well igot it installed. To get that drivers side bolt, i took off the intake tube and used 4 6" extensions and got it from the top. I actually thought it was more of a pain to put the HFC on b/c you have to hold the nut on one side and ratchet the other side. Anyway, they're the Berk Technology HFC's. The sound didnt change much at all really. It actually sounds exactly the same at idle. It just sounds a little deeper and a little louder when you get on it but nothing crazy. No rasp and no drone. Gains are felt more in the mid rpm range. Overall i am happy with the Berk Technology cats. It wasnt expensive, the cats looked great and well built, and fitment was excellent. Do you think it will get a little louder over time when they "break in".

Congrats on getting it off. I remember having to push the wrench with my feet to actually get some of those exhaust bolts off - they were stuck on there good and it seemed that no amount of WD-40 could pry them loose.

i have the crawford hfc's and mine got louder over time.

i didn't really notice a difference until after a few track events, i guess constant head plays a role...
