Default I want your Opinion. Borla Exhaust or HKS?

Yes I know in the end its my decision, I just am curious to see what is generally more accepted in the Z community.

So...

Im leaning towards Borla purely because I like the sound but HKS sound somewhat good as well and from what ive read in these forums have better performance.

So im here to ask your opinion, Can Borla keep up in the performance department?

N on a more personal note, do you like the sound of the Borla Exhaust?

Ex. Clips

Borla

HKS

O N dont nail me on the whole search aspect, ive read it all. This is just a matter of an up to date opinion.

For sound I would def. go with the Borla, as far as performance goes well unless youre going FI is it really gonna make that big of a difference?

performance on N/A: performance increase for the most part will be equal among similar configurations, i.e. most true duals will have similar results and most singles will have similar results.

Picking an N/A exhaust should be based on your personal taste in looks and sound as well as your budget.

That Borla clip is my car. I love my Borla exhaust, but it didn't sound like that before the addition of my HFCs. It was rather quiet, almost comparable to stock just deeper. HFCs really made my Borla set up come to life. Much throatier than the clip, overall a big step up on the aggressive tone. Good luck with your decision, you already know which one i would choose.

So it wasnt just a Borla Stock exhaust?

Im not trying to do a whole lot of mods to my exhaust just want to get something that sounds nice n adds some decent HP. Rather keep my money spent elsewhere such as an intake system.

an intake system? lol you really should consider setting aside 6-8 hours to research these things. What worked on your previous honda, doesn't work for the Z. I'm not knockin a nice intake, but expecting decent HP gains out of anything NA (-minus the spacer) will do nothing but hurt your feelings more. Onto the exhaust:

No, it wasn't just the Borla full exhaust. It was a comibination of everything listed below. Each mod changed the sound of the exhaust, for the better thank god. Borla really adapted well to more air flow and didn't rasp up, snarl or pop. When it comes to sound, Borla did a superb job.

Borla makes Ears Happy.
Personally, not a fan of HKS unless you're FI, then it sounds good.

If you plan on adding to your exhaust system. I say borla, due to the increased sound levels you get once you upgrade other components. If not get whatever your heart desires for sound purposes.

I don't really like either of the exhausts, but the HKS is slightly better built. The borla exhaust sounds a bit better if you can put it together without rattles. It comes in about 17 pieces and is held together by crappy clamps. Borla's welds also look horrible.

It sounds really nice. What kinda HFC's do you have?

On another note: If you're NA... HKS vs. Borla all depends on what sound/look you want on your car. Personally, I like the HKS looks but for the price and performance I chose Borla. Not as exclusive but power gains for each exhaust (1hp vs. 2hp... can you really tell?) is minimal so it doesn't matter. It comes down to personal preference. Good luck!

i would have to agree on the crappy clamp design. It took several attempts to eliminate rattle. Once i did though, it was a sweet deal. I didn't have any complaints about the welds on my headers or exhaust, they looked good.

Random Tech Cats, no complaints, probably 20k+ miles on them
