Default intake question

Just purchased a 350 used a few weeks ago with a Aem cold air intake. I live in florida and with all of the rain we are having everytime I get into a downpour the intake is getting so wet that is is screwing with the Maf sensor. So for a quick fix I just took off the lower cold air pipe and attached the filter to the outlet of the maf sensor housing. I included a pic with this post. My question is, does anyone think that this setup will hurt anything for the time being until I buy a short ram? I know it probably needs a heat shield and I need to make a bracket to brace it, but other than that. I took it for a short drive and it seemed to work fine.

If it's on there solid, not leaking, and not rubbing anything, you should be fine for now.
