So will the airbox look like something similar to the Top Secret Surge Tank?

looks great yes - and requires a giant hole in the hood with a nasty add on scoop, ala Stillen's supercharger. ITB's, or any harder core NA mod, are not a cheaper alternative to FI - it's a different route you can take the car that ends up costing just as much. As much as I'd love these on my car, I've just decided that I'd rather focus my spring/summer on enjoying the car this year, rather than constantly be working on it as I did last year. There are only a few guys on here who could really take advantage of such a setup..hopefully one of them will get these and try em out!

ITB for $3k isnt the problem - you can call Neil and buy em right now if you want - I think he has them in stock!

you need an airbox (extra $ or fab your own)

you need standalone engine mgmt (lets assume a Haltch @ $2k)

you need to install it, set it up, and tune it (let's do a roundabout # of ~$800, or nothing if you are are able to do it yourself)

like anything else you buy, the price does not "stop" at just the cost of the raw part itself - you're buying one ingredient in the recipe, you're not buying a full cake

could you run individual filters on each trumpet?

could ya give me a grade school explanation of how the electronic throttle body setup translates to the mechanical one in that ITB setup the OP put up..

could you? sure...but where would the cool air that an engine needs to make power come from? even the full on track cars that run the ITB on these cars run airboxes

it ditches the drive by wire completely and converts it to purely mechanical via a cable connected from the gas pedal to the ITB's

This thread is really starting to get ruined and cluttered with redundant questions. The price, the package and the available options have been listed several times in this thread.

sorry, i just browsed all the pages but i didn't find an answer...

I"m guessing it won't work with an HR since the motor is suppose to be "80%" different..?

It would seem that the megasquirt could become a decent option for those looking to switch to these ITB's.

it would certainly work, as any ecu will if you have the time, patience to do all the wiring that it takes...but with plug and play options out there, that have all the functions one could ever hope for in a singluar box without having to buy a bunch of add ons, seems to me that would be the way to go

Hey Alan good to see you the other day. Can you send me a link for the info on the Nissan show on the 16th? A quick note for you guys running a stand alone ecu, you can run these bodies and use small filters instead of the box, but as Adam pointed out you will get some of the hot air that is under the hood, but You will still see a good hp gain. I'm still looking for a Z,G,Maxima or Altima in the S.FLa. area to design the air box on. You get ITB's for $2700.00, free install, a free airbox and before and after dyno pulls. Once the box design is complete these kits will probably retail in the $3300.00 to $3500.00 range with an airbox.

Once you have some dyno numbers, please post the graph. not just the peak numbers.

I have played with these on my old honda. and they were good for peak power. but not much in the mid and bottom end. great for drag racers. not so much for autox, and track.

It would be great to see some nice tuning for these, and shift alot of that power to the mid range. other cars have pulled it off, like the AE86 for NA. and the skyline GTR is an example of a boosted application.

Hey Alan, thanks for the info, maybe I'll get lucky and make it up. Hi Someguy350, just wondering when you had ITB's on your honda where they made specifically for your Honda? The ITB's that have been sold for this engine so far have all been for road/club racing starting with the oringanal setups made for Nismo. RJN Racing,in England have the last of the carbon fiber setups given to them by nissan, and seem to like them as well as they are on the group 4 cars that they run. There are people running this brand of bodies in scca solo 1 and solo 2 with a lot of success as well. Maybe what you had was to big for your application or not correct the mods you had. I have never had a complaint on a set of bodies I have sold, although there is always a first time..... We will post up some dyno sheets, not just numbers, as soon as we have them as I, like you, look for the over all increase not just the peak top end power.
