Default Is it possible to LOSE torque with an IMS?

I have a Frontier with the VQ40. (Yes...I know I'm on a Z forum, not a Frontier forum and that I am a redneck that drives a truck, but I want objective information, away from the giddy happy-talk on the Frontier forum.) A vendor is doing a group buy on a spacer that he is developing ($200). All I know about them is what I've read on here. Can it be possible that I'd lose power? I want low-end torque, but how much will it cost in mid-range/upper end? My other concern is a/f ratio. There isn't a tuner available for us, so will this be a waste and result in a lean condition? I've heard nothing but good things about spacers on here, and at only $200 it won't be a financial disaster if it does nothing, but I want to make sure I haven't missed anything.
