Okay, so I took my car and the HKS Hi-Power exhaust I bought, to a shop. They installed everything for me, and after some time, they called me and said everything was ready, so then I left. I went to go show a friend, he wanted to hear it, and I told him to go start it, because I wanted to hear how it sounded and these are the problems i ran into:

Problem #1: When he started my car, all this dust went flying out, well it seemed like dust or smoke, I dont know. He revved it a couple times, and more continued to come out. Then after some time, I decided to try again, maybe it was a one time thing, and the same thing happened, after some time, more smoke/dust came out. Anything wrong here? or is it just me?

Problem #2: I was driving around for a bit, and I had felt some heat coming from somewhere, and then i stopped a stoplight, and felt the center console, where the shift **** and the cup holders are, and even down to the sides, near the bottom of the car, it was hot. It was also hot right under my deck/head unit/stereo that I had bought, and I know for a fact it wasnt like this before I got it installed. I went to play basketball for a bit, and let it sit for 30-45 minutes, which may not have been enough time, but I was expecting it to cool down a little bit, but that was a negative, didnt cool down at all...

Problem #3: Everytime I drive, it makes this smell, it isn't the clutch, they arent the brakes, they arent the tires... and i didnt get this smell before. maybe because its a new exhaust? i dont know. it also smelled like some fluid was leaking right after I got my exhaust installed, when i went to pick it up. like gas or oil or something.

there is nothing wrong with your car or the exhaust system. granted that you installed it correctly.

when a new exhaust system is installed and started up, there is a coat of some sort that is burned off, it appears as a dust, vapor, smoke, etc. it is just burning off and pushing out the majority of it.

the "feeling" heat everywhere, especially in the leg compartment i assume? thats normal also from what i can tell. heated below the head unit and everything is all in your head. since you just got a pretty major modification, you're just more in tuned with your awareness of what going on in your car, and maybe start noticing things that were there already there that you hadn't before

that small is just the same coat burning off give it time.

 

hmm...i dont know about that. your center console got hot? what do you mean by hot? Maybe you think that it was never like this, but it actually was.

but if you are right, and everything did get hot after you put exhaust, then i think something might be wrong. Maybe you should let the shop have a look at it. I have the nismo exhaust and after it was installed, nothing else changed at all except for the sound. Granted it is a different exhaust but i dont think it should matter.

 

Everything is normal except for the console being hot. I'd check for leaks. But the smell will last for a couple days and the dust is usually less.

 

i have the hks and that exactly how mine was the smoke will go away in 3-4 days and the smell is the paint curing under the car from the hotter hks system....just enjoy!
