Default Some exhaust setups ROB power?

I have a Nissan Sentra buddy...turboed...his Sentra is **** FAST...like 340RWHP or something...anywho, he was telling me that a lot of the exhausts out there are robbing hp's from the Z and that only a couple actually give it more power...he linked me to nissanperformancemagazine.com to show me a project car with a B&B exhaust or something.

Anyone eles hear about this or is does my buddy have no clue what he's talking about?

Temp Sig

Yes, he right. Here is the link. http://www.nissanperformancemag.com/june03/350exhaust/

They go on to say that Jim Wolf actually tested 2 350z with the entire exhaust removed, (just ypipe back) and didn't see significant gains. It shows that Nissan already has well tuned exhaust on the car.

This usually happens with cars that get duals with Y pipes and not true duals. If you setup your car with true duals then you will not lose power.

As for running with no exhaust and not seeing gains that can happen because you need back-pressure.

BigShow: vice means "real world hp," or hp "at the wheels" as opposed to hp "at the crank." Example: the 350Z has 287 hp at the crank, but rwhp is about 17% less than that... so closer to 240 rwhp.

last time i checked it meant rear wheel horse power, as wells as rwtq (rear wheel torque), and brake horse power bhp....
he probably meant 340hp to the wheels, honest mistake.

Don't feel bad...when I talk about HP, I'm used to thinking of RWD muscle cars so I meat REAR WHEEL HP...but ofcourse his Sentra is FWD...my bad...maybe he said 320...i dotn remember.
