Concrete answer on aluminized vs. stainless steel?
I've done some searching, and I can't seem to find a decent answer as to what's bad about aluminized exhaust components. Some say they have shorter life spans. How? Will they rust? Some say they won't rust, and it's just that they're a pound or two heavier and don't look as nice.
I'm confused. Can someone help me out here, because I'm considering buying somebody's res. Fast Intentions test pipes, but they're aluminzed and I don't know if I should pursue it or not.

For most cases aluminized should be just fine.
It will corrode quicker than stainless but its still going to take a long time. The only time you may really want to avoid aluminized is if you drive alot on wet or salted roads.
In So Cal, its not an issue. In NYC, it may.

it all depends on the quality and gauge of the 2 metals - saying something is "stainless" doesn't really say much (cheap stainless rusts too), and saying something is aluminized, or made of mild steel isn't always bad
