Default Dyno results on Borla Headers

I recieved this from the guys over at Borla

"Our headers, on the stock exhaust system, gained 9.6lbs of torque and 11.8hp. These headers will fit your vehicle perfectly just as long as you haven't modified your catalytic converters. During the installation you do have to remove the catalytic converters. If you have anymore questions please feel free to email me back.

Thanks

Thats not too bad for a $600 set of headers. With and aftermarket exhaust those numbers will definitely be a little higher, and if you remove the cats too we could see some positive gains .

ill email him back to see if he can supply me with it. personally i dont doubt borla on their numbers. the reviews i have seen of their exhausts have been very postive and i know that they have good quality products from past experience, plust 10hp is not an unbelievable number *cough injen's dyno cough* for a header upgrade.

I'd still like to see a members dyno on the Borla true dual. Hopefully SOON!

Is anyone CERTAIN these headers are CARB approved? What exactly does he mean when he says...
During the installation you do have to remove the catalytic converters.
I ASSUME that means you'll remove them to install the headers then Reinstall the cats...

Anyone here installed the headers themselves? I have access to a pit (not quite as nice as a lift but still nice for working under the car)... Do you need to lift the engine at all, loosen motor mounts, remove all kinds of plumbing to get to the headers?

Not positive, but I'm 99% sure to install headers, since they connect the cats, you have to lift the car or somehow manage to get under it (without killing yourself ).

And yes, I'm pretty sure he means remove cats to install, then re-install.. but that is on the stock exhaust system, I won't how installation would be with the borla exhaust.

And gains, I heard 27rwhp with both headers and exhaust. Realistically I'm only hoping for about 15+rwhp.

There have been several... just do a Forum search on Borla + Dyno and you should get quite a few matches.

On the original borla dynos released by David Borla a few months ago, they showed that the headers made very small additional gains over the borla dual exhaust. less than 5whp if I remember correctly.

I Posted that a month ago before any dynos were posted. This is an old @ss thread.

I have a new rule of thumb.....
What ever claimed HP is from a mod, divide by 2 and that what to expect.

I've been using that for rule of thumb forever. NEVER believe gains from companies.. Most we saw from injen I believe was 12hp, but injen claimed 21 with intake. Borla was 7-8 hp, vs the 15+ expected.. So if 27rwhp from exhaust and headers, I'm hoping for about 15rwhp.
