NISMO and HFCs...
do any HFCs come with the support brackets already on them? (like the Helix test pipes)
should i re-inforce the welds on whatever HFCs i get, or will that be overkill?

I had the crawfords about 2 years ago with the Nismo and they unfortunately developed cracks within 3 months. I think one of the keys with this exhaust is to have cats that can use the stock mounting brace like the OEM's. I'm very curious to how the Berk's will fit and last with the Nismo.

The Crawford cracking issue that some members had, has been rectified by Crawford. I say some members, because I have had my Crawford cats for better than 4 years now, with no issues. IMO, they sound great mated with my Crawford headers and Invidia G200 exhaust with an "H" pipe.

I have issues with my Crawford HFC's and NISMO catback exhaust and I have the revised versions of the cats that come with the bracket. I have a large crack almost all the way around the pipe on the weld at the bottom side (outlet) of the converter. This is after only about 6 months and just a few thousand miles. I really hope that this was a single bad case, but after reading this thread I am starting to think otherwise.
Just curious, but has anyone had any experience with Stillen HFC's good or bad? Im wondering because they are around the same price as Crawford, but you don't hear much about them...

I have Kinetix HFC s with my Nismo cat back, cracked at the mid pipe 3 times, as a result I've just bought an Injen track edition exhaust and am seriously thinking about removing the cats

I just took my Kinetix HFC's off last night, because they have about a 2" hole in the side where the bracket ripped through. Plus they are cracked almost all the way around where the welds are.
I had to put the stock cats back on for now, and its SO quiet now.
I think I am just going to fix these, and fab up better brackets to support them.

Like a lot of you guys, I was worried about test pipes because like ya'll said it smells, there's rasp, and it's way too loud. Well I have some APS non-resonated test pipes with my nismo. At first, it was kinda loud and a little raspy...but it wasn't even that bad it sounds mean! the smell wasn't even bad at all...the z is always in my garage and the smell is hardly noticeable it doesn't linger. I would recommend test pipes because they're MUCH cheaper than HFCs, more power, and sounds meaner. At first I thought it sounded a little ricey...but i had my friend drive around the neighborhood so that I could hear it from outside. It sounded sooooooo nice! Take my word for it.
