Crawford Z Plenum Installed!!! w/ pics
Well Z folks, I installed my Crawford Z Plenum today after work. This is the production powder coated version with production strut bar replacement. (I also put in an Injen upper tube . . .not a Crawford part just my own addition.) It looks killer. Now I have around +20 hp up top and +9 at peak. The only difference in what you will get is yellow zinc plated strut bar brackets. I will have those tomorrow.
Splendid!!!! That looks killer
How does the responsiveness feel in your throttle now?
Is there a difference in intake sound, besides the CAI?
Can you still place the engine cover back on?
Does your Z now have more pull up there???
And, i wonder if moving the location of the strut brace forward is as good as the stock version???
I Love it so!

Looks great! I wonder if the new strut brace will leave enough room for the new K&N ram air intake? Looks like it might just barely....

Holy Smokes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just got home from dinner after my last post and took it for a little test.
This thing is amazing. It pulls up to redline as easy as the wind blows. It feels like we un-corked the engine and it thanks me for allowing it to breath better by adding the extra power.
It sounds mean, too! I did install the optional "woo-woo" eliminator bolt (center black bolt) which eliminates some of the air whooshing noise introduced by the increased volume of the Crawford plenum, but there is a nice growl to it. I know some of it is due to the Injen upper tube but there is an unmistakable note to the intake plenum.
All I got to say: IT IS WORTH THE MONEY. On that note you need to call Doug for the prices. Maybe he will post all the different package prices tomorrow with core charge info and other options.
IMO, the strut bar is a better setup than stock. The steering is a touch more responsive and there seems to be a little less push. Now I am not a race car driver and cant dial in a car's suspension so this is my non-expert opinion.
I should have a installation manual ready in a day or two . . .my complements to Doug.

Oh good show ol' boy, good show indeed!! Ahahhahahha!!
Heh
Engine cover will not fit. If you modify it some how, it may fit. I want to show this piece off though. It looks so good!!!
Here’s the $$$ deal. Doug is willing to keep the pricing as follows:
The introductory pricing is the following:
Replacement Adjustable Strut Bar w/ all hardware: $185
Powder Coated Crawford Z Plenum w/ all hardware: $400
Original plenum core charge: $225
Initial Total: $810 (before core return)
End total: $585 (after return)
I don’t know about shipping as I am local and picked mine up and installed same day (giving my core right back to Doug). Call him (615) 327-4159.
BTW, install took 1 hour 20 minutes with hand tools and noting each step for an instruction manual.

I originally ask for a molded piece . . .haha, the price was out of hand. No one would buy that piece. The upper plenum is made up of one pre-molded piece molded into another piece. It is not a simple cast! Therefore Doug stayed with the current solution. It works. It looks good. It is priced right.
Quite a decent price! Although its a little rough looking. Wish the welding was a little cleaner/tighter. Hopefully the engine cover can be modified to fit... or someone will make a new engine cover to clean it up a little.
My only real concern now is loss-of-warranty issues.
but...
Crawford plenum + Borla exhuast = 40-50rwhp for under $1300?
Now we're getting somewhere!
Like I said before, 300rwhp is right around the corner. I knew this engine had potential, and these two mods should add up fine since they're on opposite ends.

Warranty is not an issue with this piece. It is a bolt on and only increases the volume of air inside the plenum. They may ask what it is all about, but unless they have reason to believe that increased volume in the plenum causes some issue with the engine you will be ok.
I would not expect the HP to add up to be equal to the gains of both bolt-on's.
