Default Dent in Exhaust

hey,

I just wanted to know if a dent in an aftermarket exhaust can cause a loss in performance. The dent is on the canister and it is a Fujitsubo exhaust. Any help would be great. This is not my exhaust it is an exhaust I'm looking to buy.
Thanks in advance,
-Tom

Depends on how big the dent is.

If the canister is crunched in and it is restricting flow, yes.

I'm only going on what the seller is telling me, he said that the dent is the width of a baseball, but is not pushed in far at all. He said that you cant see it unless the exhaust is off the car, and you are looking for it. I'm not going to buy it without seeing the dent, but I just want to see if anyone had a problem with this before.

He say dented, not crunched in.

Now let me get this straight, you are look for a single pipe exhaust for your G. Your top pick is the Fujitsubo Legalis R, and you found one. However it's from a 350Z therefore you are not sure it will fit and it has a baseball size dent on the muffler.

If that is right, I know for a fact the 350Z and G35 Legalis R, can't be swapped. Now for the dent, I would need a cutaway picture of the muffler, to make my decision if it causes a loss of power. (Which I think is unlikely)

I'm on 4 other G35/350Z forums as well.

Now back to the dent, if the exhaust flow is similar to the muffler picture here, a dent in the back would have on effect. (The muffler just act as a housing assy)

Now if the muffler is similar to this kind, you might had a small problem. (But ever than I don't think it will cause a major loss of power)

MIA, I think I know who you are on driver, you have teh neked grls in ur avatar. Also Thanks Citymunky for the help. The seller says that the dent is small and dosent affect performance at all, but I havent seen the dent, and it is not visable unless the exhaust is off of the car. Has anyone had an exhaust with a dent, I know its not hard to dent, there must be more people.
