I just installed my new intake ( fujita f5 short ram) i bought off of a feller member which i bought in brand new condition practically and am experiencing un-usual noises @ high rpm... i did a search for this but it was too vegue so i thought i would ask in concern. the intake produces noticable power and is awsome over stock but when i get to 6000rpms to redline the intake starts to make a hissing sound almost like the sound of a wastegate dumping on a turbo'ed vehicle...is this bad or do the 350's like to really gulp down the O2 at WOT?? just thought i would ask..

 

How fast are you going at 6000 rpm's???

 

the jwt popcharger makes this noise...maybe the fujita does too

 

i couldnt recall how fast i was going because when it happend it was so loud it scared me but i was in second gear...maybe 50-60mph

 

If you are doing 6000 rpm's in 2nd gear & you hear a very loud boom it is either:

A you engine saying $$$$$$$
B your transmission saying was this really necessary??
C just part of the dream in your head

 

I've got the JWT pop charger on my G, it makes a hiss, on harder acceleration though. Installed it before a drifting event and everyone on the stands could tell I had an intake. . .pretty loud I guess . . .

It's normal . . .

 

ive got a aem cai on my car and the person that i got it from cut a pipe and made it into a short ram. and even when i'm just driving normal shifting at about 2500 i can hear it when i change gears and its really loud. especially when i get on it

 

my JWT and my previous Injen SP SRi produced the "hissing" under harder acceleration though. Once i reached around 5k rpms the engine noise+filter engulfed the hissing noise and you could just hear the engine+filter (no hissing)

 

He said it was a loud hiss. If it's loud, it isn't normal. If it's soft, it is.

 

yea its pretty loud but

A: my engine isnt saying $$$$$$ and if it was then its covered under TotalCare 85,000mile warrenty with only 30k on her so far ..
B: My tranny shouldnt be asking me anykind of questions because it should have been built to deliever the VQ35 powerhouse
C: I wasnt dreaming

Im pretty sure its normal, i was revving it later that night and its the sound of the throttle body sucking air at WOT so u get the WHOOOSHHHH sound. thanks for the input tho guys, i do however love the sound when i go and step on the gas at low rpms because it almost sounds like its TC...HAHA JKJK sounds nice tho...Thanks
