Installed BERK Ceramic HFC: Noisy IDLE???
hey everyone, i just bought and installed my brand new Berk technology ceramic HFC and i love them BUT after the install making sure everything is secured and tight, i noticed the passenger side connector pipe from my injen TD exhaust (before the flex-pipe) was rubbing on a black support brace. the driverside seemed fine (no rub) but when i turn the car on in a cold start, i can hear what almost sounds like my flywheel/tranny gears spinning while im in the driver seat. Another thing i thought about was the old converters were HUG!!! and took up a lot of space so the bigger conv. could have baffled the tranny noise?? but i do hear the exhaust rub every now and then but everytime i start the car cold i just hear a lot of movement. is this a dynamat fix?? is this common??
The rubbing of the exhaust has to do with the EVAP canister. I had mine removed and welded back to a slightly different location. I had the very, very same problem as you. The reason why your exhaust is rubbing now is because the clearance is SO small between the EVAP canister and the pipe, that the increase in resonance/vibration from your HFCs is causing your exhaust to rub when it's cold. Naturally, it does it when it's cold, because that's when the car is the loudest.
So yeah, I had the same issue with my Borla TD and the issue is the EVAP canister.

Refer to this thread. Look at the pics I posted, is that the black box you're talking about?
