Default 07-08 Nismo Exhaust

for those of you who have this on your Z, how happy with it are you? more importantly, have you had "exhaust envy" after hearing any other aftermarket options?

stealership wants $1350 installed from me. ehhh...

That's a total rip-off my friend. I would suggest search for the best price of the NISMO exhaust, the have a good muffler-shop that does decent work to install it for you for less. I'm personally happy with mine. Livable and mellow tone.

Better yet do the install yourself and save some more bucks while learning more about your car. It really is an easy install with just jackstands.

Nismo exhaust is nice. You may want to change down the line, but the Nismo is always a good choice.

i test drove the 08 nismo before i bought my base. i've still been lusting for the sound of that throaty exhaust. i'm pretty sure i'm gonna go nismo and pair it with the dual nismo intake.

Yup. I dont have the place to install myself. Cheapest I saw online was like 1049, then you add shipping for 100 at least, and wait time..then gettin it installed elsewhere...

In stock at the dealer for 1200 flat sounded like a good deal to me.

Wow, thats insane rape my friend. If you look around, you could find nismo exhausts way cheaper than retail. My friend recently managed to find a nismo exhaust for $400. Then again, it was his eye on the street. Whatever you do, never buy anything from the dealerships. They need a way to stay in business, and sometimes they don't do to hot on the sales.

there you go.. while back they were offering something like 850INSTALLED. 1200 installed FTL... im serious. You can buy them used for 600-700 in great condition. Can't even tell it is used. Install it at a local muffler shop for 40-80... How do i know? I have a nismo, as well as my brother, and another friend.. forget stealerships. You paid a good price for retail, I suppose. Not trying to rag on your purchase, just trying to help out for future reference.
1200 is about right for an EVOTT...

I'm in the same boat as you.

I asked SGP racing, and they said it would be $985 for the exhaust and then about $145 for installation.

But recently I've been thinking about getting the Berk HFC and pairing them up with my stock exhaust. It should sound good. Proven gains, and only $445 for the HFC.

I believe the 08 Nismo's only have a different muffler. Otherwise, the exhaust is the same as stock, as in same y-pipe and mid-pipe

fabulous! So should I ship my car out there to have it installed? At their current price of 895 plus shipping to me of 140 plus insallation its still ~1200 bucks. I dont know of too many folks around my town sellin used Nismo exhausts, and dont want to trust buyin a used one online with the guise that its 'like new'. I bought a new car, and I want new parts on it. So when possible I buy new from someone I can deal with face to face because the level of service is much higher, and the level of dickery is much lower since they have to deal with me in their lobby if there is a problem.

hey allen, can you confirm this? i'd totally rather pick up just the muffler and tips, and save a hell of a lot more $$$.

^^
The Nismo Z comes with only a Nismo muffler and exhaust tips. I don't think you can buy that Nismo edition muffler or tips though.

And BTW, the Nismo edition muffler and tips look different than the Nismo Weldina exhaust (the one you can buy).

I loved my NISMO exhaust. I wish I still have it for back up just to run different set ups at my own discretion.

That would defeat 2 out of the 3 purposes of buying an exhaust.

1. Power
2. Looks
3. Sound

With the 07 Nismo Z's exhaust you'll lose the power & sound portion. The Nismo Z makes the same HP as the normal Z - its power lies in the chassis re-enforcement and suspension work. The Nismo Z's exhaust doesn't really sound that much different from the stock one either. So basically you'll be paying $500-$600 for a muffler that looks good and that's basically it. Spend the extra few hundred and get a Full Nismo Catback bro!

alvin -

i definitely agree with you. i just don't know here to buy the catback exhaust itself. basically, i'm under the impression that my stock exhaust is different than the nismo, because when i drove the 08 nismo, it DEFINITELY sounded different than stock. the y-pipe and mid-pipe are the same right? so all i need is the cat and tips?
