Default Where is the difference between Z & G35 exhausts?

Y-pipe? Mid-pipe? Muffler?

Common sense tells me it would be in the mid-pipe, but I just want to double check. I need a stock exhaust, and have the option to piece it together from a y-pipe and muffler from a G and a mid-pipe from a Z, just wondering if it would work?

I think the G"s midpipe is longer. Could be wrong though.

I need to know this info too. A friend of mine is selling his G soon, and I asked to swap my stock muffler for his Greddy rear muffler. Would it be a direct replacement? Or will I run into issues?

G's are about 6" longer in the mid i believe go on G35driver.com and ask since they are G pro's.

I know to put the nismo exhaust on the G you need to add the extension in the middle (6''), and then also extend the tips 2 inched. So I would say in total there is a 8'' difference.

Might be different, but for the nismo that is what needs to be done.

Look at a photo of the undercarriage of a 350Z.

There you go.

one of these threads appears at least once a month (and on g35driver). You gotta learn to love Davidv's responses because he's only being sarcastic/playful.

The G's midpipe and exhaust tips are longer. The y pipe is the same.

When I put on my daul exhaust last weekend inside the box there are 2 extension pieces that fit the G, the exhaust sytem on the G is approx 10" inches longer than the Z car. The midpipe on the G is the longer piece, compared to Z cars.

I wonder if I bolt on my Z muffler section (oem) onto my friend's G which has a stock mid-pipe, if the supposedly shorter tips the Zs have will be an obvious eye-sore or not stick out enough to vent the exhaust fumes out from under the bumper on the G. He is trading the vehicle in because the lease will be up, so it's not like fitment has to be dead on, but enough to "pass".

Also, are the welded hangers on the OEM muffler and those attached to the actual undercarriage identical? I'm planning on purchasing his axle-back Greddy SP2 (muffler only) and giving him my OEM muffler so he can trade his car in with it. Essentially, I am asking if my drive up to Canada to do this will be worth my time. It needs to get done in one afternoon in his driveway.

Sorry to thread-jack kukles, but at least what i'm saying is relevant...i think? hehe

If this works it can be done in 1 afternoon, use plenty of WD40 so you don't round off some of the rusted bolts. Keep us posted if this works with the hangers being the same or not.

I kind of need to know myself before I attempt this considering I'll be driving up to Toronto to do it. I won't make the trip if I can't be certain I'll be able to successfully do the swap.
