I'm looking for a good set of test pipes to go with my Nismo catback. I've heard the Nismo exhaust can cause some TP's to crack. Which pipes are you guys using with the Nismo exhaust and do you like them/recommend them? I'm pretty sure i want resonated. Would it be better to have a set that have an extra mounting bracket to help with stability? or will that not matter?

The new Megan racing resonated test pipes have a flex section in them so that seems like it would help... but ive read that some people arent impressed by Megan's quality. Any input on that?

Thanks guys.

mmhhmm... def a false statement, I have been a distributer for megan for a few years now starting with there coilovers for my evo, ( which actually, for the price where amazing) the price, cant go wrong, car handled amazing,

I have got the resonated testpipes for the my g35, and quality again seems to be pretty good considering the amount I spent on them. You want to me to post pics or do a DIY on the install i'll do with no questions asked.

Yes, please do a DIY on these. I too am thinking of getting test pipes (resonated) from intense . As for the non-foulers, will this prevent the check engine light from going on for a 2006 enthusiast automatic? Thank you.

My cats have a leak somewhere -- I have to check. HFC replacement we are talking $300-600. I am leaning towards test pipes, but not sure what they would sound like. I've got headers and Fujitsubo Legalis R exhuast, which sounds awesome when everything is in good shape. Test pipes are cheap, give a bit of a performance upgrade, but depending on the setup, are loud as hell. I want as little rasp as possible. Recommend?

Also I assume this is a easy DIY. Unbolt the cats from each side then pop in the strait pipe. Only question remains --- CEL lights (I have 2003). I just passed emissions last week so I have another 2-3 years.

are 350z/G35 header-to-cat and cat-to-y-pipe diameters 2.5"? I aways thought my mid-pipe and down was a good 3 inches. I have the Top Speed stuff. Looks like this Megan one is good? Anyone have experience w/ it?

reasonable price for a pipe too... none of that $400 BS. If anyone has any links to some Top Speed non-res test pipes, I would appreciate it too, or a PM from a vendor works. I can't seem to find ANY online .

Hmmm just read some bad stuff about Megans. What's the experience with Helix or Strup? I want a deeper tone and hopefully no rasp. I've seen videos w/ the Top Speed mufflers and the non-res test pipes and there is absolutely no rasp... can I assume all non-res test pipes will not make noise with my Top Speed mufflers then?

Is that to prevent the cracking/strain issue Megan test pipes have? And possibly some others? Exhaust shop should be able to weld some on yes?

Possibly more tickets/attention form the police

It makes sense to just get non-res, since you have less parts and less crap to break/burn/fail. A clean straight pipe is the best path for exhaust

The only exhaust types I heard that DO NOT make rasp with non-res test pipes are the Top Speed/Invidia/RS*R. They are distinct from other exhausts for the VQ because they are deeper and more burly/bubbly versus a high pitched whine. I think that helps a lot with the raspiness (they don't have any at all, basically).

One question... all the test-pipes has the same in/out diameter o there are differences?

I know that TurboXS has different diameters in the entry and the exit, but I don't know if all the brands do the same, and if they all use the same diameters.

I think if you get them for 350z/g35 they should all be 2.5 inches.

IIRC, there's a few varieties out there; some are 2.25", 60mm, 2.5".
