Default Yet another custom exhaust idea: Opinions Please

Concept: Single Exit Exhaust

- muffler: Greddy Evo2 (cut off of a 350z cat back...idk who would do that, but I wasn't the one who did lol)

- this exhaust will be run on an NA Z

Ideas:

1) purchase a stock midpipe and weld this new muffler on (w/ extended piping on the end of the mid, of course)

2) buy an after market resonator and weld it into custom bent piping, then weld muffler

3) have custom Y-Pipe + midpipe fabricated w/ Muffler + resonator welded in between.

4) After market Y-pipe paired with #1 or #2

5) SCHOOL ME

I just took a brief look at after-market universal resonators online...I noticed flowmaster, vibrant performance, etc. make them.

If I went with one of the options incorporating an aftermarket resonator, what size/brand do you recommend?

Thanks

If you want a custom exhaust with your proposed idea, here's the best route:

Custom y-pipe
Custom mid-pipe with resonator welded in
Evo2 muffler welded to mid-pipe

I'd hope you're planning on increasing the pipe diameter? Otherwise all the money you're putting into this is worthless. You might as well weld the Evo2 onto the stock exhaust piping.

Just bolt on tubes where your headers end, and aim them straight to the ground.

Should sound good

Wouldn't a normal pipe diameter be 2.5" for the Y-pipe + mid leading to the muffler?

What is the normal diameter of the stock Y-Pipe and Mid-Pipe?

How does everyone feel about:

- OEM Y-Pipe (for now)
- 3 inch piping to Vibrant Performance Ultra Quiet Resonator to Greddy Evo2 Muffler

I have read that a 3-inch dual results in a loss of power in N/A configurations, but I am not sure if the same would go for a single. It seems a lot of N/A guys are running single 3" exhausts. Is that all they make? Also, this should all bolt together with the stock Y-Pipe, correct?

Will the ultra-quiet resonator be too quiet?

A 3" single will have VERY similar flow characteristics to a 2 1/2" dual...as long as up-size to 3" from the CATS back...or put on custom 3" cats/testpipes all the way back.

Other than that...single exist exhausts, on these cars, are not eh best looking and sounding overall...iy my experience and opinion.
