NISMO or go home just imo. It has the factory exhaust note but on huge dose steroids couple that with some test pipes or hfcs and you have pure exhaust note bliss !!!!!!!

yeah, i dont think the nismo is loud at all... for the OP, id suggest maybe going with a test pipe / stock exhaust combo for a while. cheapest exhaust mod, sounds fairly decent.

If you have the money the APS true dual is sounds awsome...the NISMO is a great sounding midrange priced exhaust. But if your pockets are tight and your looking for power the AAM 3 inch single exhaust sounds good and will give you just as much HP as any other brand...

In case you haven't noticed, this thread has given you as many options as you had before you even started up. There isn't one exhaust that's really favored over the others with the exception of maybe NISMO. Most of the people posting are saying " I have "x" exhaust and therefore I think it's the best". The only thing that has been ruled is out the chinese made exhausts going for $5 on ebay. You get what you pay for as far as they are concerned. They may look like any other exhaust, but when the glasspacking in the muffler starts to go down the road, or and exhaust hanger breaks, or a gasket starts leaking you'll start to regret "saving" your money.
I'll tell you what I used as my method for choosing an exhaust. Function over form is the most important thing in my own book. I sat on google and typed in various search items like "350z exhaust shootout" "350z exhaust dyno" etc. I ran across a link leading to a Borla True Dual exhaust belting out a peak 8.9whp gain. I don't remember the exact numbers, but the dyno chart also showed gains upwards of 18whp and substantial torque in the midrange. What held weight in my book is that this dyno was on a dynojet, and the owner had no affiliaton with Borla whatsoever. Meaning it was a completely unbiased post. I am not claiming this exhaust makes more power than all others. I just noticed that many of the other in it's price range net lower peak numbers. Next in line of importance came sound. There has to be a million exhaust sound clip videos on youtube.com, I heard the sound of the Borla unit, and knew is would give the aggressive note I was looking for. The Top Speed N1, and the HKS both sound incredible, but I like the look of the Borla unit over the twin can style. Again it all comes down to personal preference. I'm not promoting Borla to you, honestly, the money goes in ther pocket not mine. I'm just trying to give you an idea of what method YOU could use to choose YOUR own parts for YOUR car, as opposed to relying on others opinions.
Good luck with your decision.

that about sums it up right there. i think its just about finding something you like and going and buying it. read threads, look at dynos, go to youtube, ride in peoples cars... you get the idea

Kick *** boosted!

I wish there were other 350z owners around here, but all others in the Cincinnati area are owned by older men and one chick that I've seen and all are factory. So far I LOVE the sound of that Fast Intentions and HKS. I am going to listen to others, but my only form is internet for opinions and advice. But thank you for all the names to start looking for. I finally found a job working for BMW as a lot tech, go figure lol. So I'll have more money to play with and can prolly do $1000 on my exhaust now instead of a cheap $500 ebay.
