Default damaged amuse r1 exhaust tip ....Repairable?

Is it possible to repair this exhaust tip by either resurfacing it or if not possibly buying new titanium tips & have them welded on. Not too sure how about to go forward on possibly purchasing this exhaust. Please post any solutions if possible. Thanks.

hahaaha...

I don't know man. I was looking at the exhaust as well. I just wish it was that bad. It would be tough to repair it and then have it look like Amuse.

Good luck

Chris

Maybe look up a machine shop that specializes in titanium...maybe Aircraft machine shops..that can facilitate that repair. I have found this shop on line that maybe can help..they are out of Massachusetts I think www.precisionmachinists.net

Chris

I'm a post ***** on g35driver for obvious reasons..since I have a g35. When it comes to technical or more in depth skilled area's, I don't even bother with driver & post on my350z. I respect the input I recieve here & the knowledge base is far superior hands down then driver. To keep your sanity on this site, you have to roll with the punches like any other blog. The poster that started this had a smart@*** remark & thats what followed with my comments. But as usual which at times is hard on this site is to stay on topic & see if any shop in the tristate area possibly can help me out

Default Doubt it...

You might be able to find a shop that works with titanium, but I don't think they will be able to make the tips look like they are supposed to from Amuse, unless you can order the tips from Power House.

But, Amuse has no US distributor, so good luk trying to find someone who speaks japanese that can contact them about this. I doubt Amuse will sell just the tips, but who knows.

I suppose if you find a reuptable shop that is confortable welding titanium, you could get rid of the damaged tips, and put on other titanium 4 inch tips, and weld those on, but I doubt it will look like an Amuse is supposed to.

My .002.

Btw what is the seller's asking price?

Ahahahaha you tell him boy yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

If it's a real good price on the exhaust go for it, i'm shure you can get other titanium tips on there. Of course it might not look the same as it would originaly, but heck you will be the only one with that exact exhaust, I assure you . You might want to find out were it can be fixed and how much it will cost, cuz titanium is a pretty expensive material but having it welded on shouldn't be too pricy. Cheers.

I tried to see if I could order the tips directly from power house amuse..two things didn't work in my favor with that; I don't understand japanese & I didn't see any contact info to send an email to them.

The seller is looking for 1400 picked up local.

Lighten up Frances, you started it by discounting the man's reply strictly on his post count.

If you're hell-bent on owning an Amuse, then the repair cost, whatever that maybe, would be worth it, just like the cost of the original exhaust. However, having owned several exhausts for the Z, including the Amuse, I can state objectively that the Amuse is mainly a status symbol. There are better sounding exhausts, better looking exhausts, there are higher performance exhausts, there are even cheaper exhausts that do all of the above better, and there are more expensive exhausts. If you pay $1400 for a damaged Amuse, you are getting a product that probably has other issues than a damaged tip.

The cans are suspended by thin brackets ~2mm apart from each other, NOT touching anywhere along their length. I can almost guarantee you that when enough pressure is put on a tip to bend it, something else will suffer also. How are you going to verify the angle of each bend, and the trueness of the straight sections? There may even be unseen damage, such as overstressed welds - good luck with that! In the end, the price of a new Amuse is what will get you the status, not the colored piece of metal. That's just my 2 cents worth.

Is that what the other guy posted??

Like undrgnd posted its hard with ti. Unless you make them both look the same. and also check the welds. I beleve the seller is local to you correct? Let us know what you find out b/c it could help in the future

I know the amuse system is pretty dam expensive, but I don't think I would pay that much for a used and damaged exhaust. Just my opinion. Good luck anyways.

Yo that is definately repairable. Id say take it to any metal shop that repairs wheels/etc that sort and have them fix the bend and repolish it. Wish you were in Central Florida i could def. point you toward the right direction.

The only concern is that once they sand/repolish it the colored titanium part won't be colored anymore.

Thanks to those with constructive feedback. I spoke to one of my boys & decided to get his hks true dual ti exhaust; less headaches & I know I will love it. Don't get me wrong though ...The amuse exhaust is a work of art, but I would rather buy it new then go through the hassle.
