hehe.. after reading the last page of this post and the thing about the air not being in the intake tube for that long so it doesnt heat up...

does that mean if i put my hand in a 300 degree oven for a second then i wont get burnet or feel my hand get warmer...

that is a whole HAND next to tempretures near that of an engine...

air molecules are alot smaller then a hand....

so putting your hand in an oven 100 times the size of a standard oven your gonna heat up a bit more a bit quicker....

the whole "cold air intake" just means that it takes are from OUT SIDE of the engine bay... the POP chargers and "short ram" intakes they advertise take air from INSIDE of the engine bay...

either way they are not going to make much of a difference between CAI and SR...

I wouldnt and am NOT putting an intake on my Z... it is one Nismo product i will not be buying...

One drop of oil from the filter on to the air sensors and they are fried....

Default Plastic Shroud

I removed the shroud....just one question, what was the shroud there for anyway? Will I be doing any damage to my car by removing it? I know its a stupid question and upon inspection before removing it, it doesn't look like it could do any damage, so why is it there in the first place?

it was originally there to just route air to the radiator more, but its already in the air stream... its going to get air regardless.. your filter isnt... dont worry.

Forgetting the price for a minute, this is why I like the Gruppe-M intake. It has a scoop that brings in COLD air from the front grill in a true RAM design. I assume the filter unit is better as well (?)and since its wrapped in CF its not going to heat up from the engine.
Its got to be an improvement over the stock intake which admittedly is good but leaves room for improvement.
