inlet Diameter of Tanabe SMH exhaust
hey whats up..
I did a quick search but did not find what I was looking for..
currently.. i have an Ichiba Y-pipe connected to a custm 3" exhaust..!
the outlet on the Ichiba y-pipe is 3" so this matches up perfect to my current mid-pipe..
but my friend is selling his.. Tanabe SMH exhaust... so I was considering buying it from him..
But ive read before to make sure the y-pipe and mid-pipe always match up.. or at least... smaller dumping into large.. and not the reverse..
I know for certain... the outlet on the tanabe y-pipe is 2.75"... so im only to assume that the inlet in the mid-pipe is the same..?
if it is.. then id be going from 3" oultet into 2.75" inlet.. so I dont think that would be good.. I read it causes.. rasping sound and loss of power..?
would this be a major.. or minor concern..
and if someone knows the exact inlet diameter of the Tanabe mid-pipe..? would be great.
thanks
Tony..!

Going from 3" to 2.75" is never optimum, but it may not necessarily be a problem because its not a very large contraction.
If conected to the stock midpipe, that would be different. Going from a 3" y-pipe to the 2.5" stock mid-pipe would be more of a problem.
If this guy is your friend, ask him to let you try it on your car for a couple days to see how it sounds.
Can't go wrong with a short trial.

cool man thanks..! I appreciate the feedback..!
I dont think .25" is going to do anything..!!
Just wanted to make sure..!!
I still cant seem to find the exact inlet diameter of the Tanabe SMH midpipe.. im still only to assume its the same as the Tanabe y-pipe outlet at 2.75"...
so if someone ca confirm would be great..!
thanks
