Strup Header Question
So I finally took my strup headers out of the box after almost a month...I plan on getting them ceramic coated so I figured I would check them out before I bring them to the shop...I lined them up with my cats...and I have a slight problem (not sure if this IS a problem). The triangle flange on the headers doesn't seem to be flat...they bend back uptowards the headers very slightly, both of them. So when I connect it up to my cat, its not anywhere near perfect...theres actually a big space...anyone else seen this? or is this normal and when I put a gasket inbetween and when I torque it down it was designed like this to keep from leaking exhaust gasses? Help would be appreciated as I plan on getting them coated soon.
Thanks!
Eric

pictures would help, but the position of the headers when you lined them up probably differed from the angle they will be in once fastened down to the block. A BIG gap is unacceptable but i have a feeling its just the angle you are attempting to mesh them together at. Anyways, post pictures in case of defect.

This thread needs some photos.
BTW here’s a tip for coating: make sure the threaded holes are plugged before coating. It is not fun trying to get the coating out of the threads.

Here's what my DC Sports look like. Inside welds & flanges are among the cleanest I've seen. I got these from Kyle at Import Parts Pro - Totally cool guy, great customer service. :-)

Those DC look good as well. I had no Idea the inside of the strup were like that. Airflow at that point is critical and a bunch of uneven welds will really mess with the exhaust gas pulses merging. That is why I blended the aera I did on mine.
I just installed strups couple of days ago and everyting lined up and no leaks, it for sure increases mid range power and im planning on getting cams to really benefit with headers. So far i'm very happy with Strups.
IIRC, Strup is the one who founded DC originally. In the beginning, he was kinda the 'Crawford' for Hondas. He was bought out by DC and started a new company called Strup...
