Question What's up with Cosworth plenums?

What's up with Cosworth plenums?

I remember all the ruckus and waiting lists and anticipation.

Did they turn out to be a flop? I know a few of them had leakage problems around the end caps. Did everyone give up on them all ready?

Are they totally worthless for an NA VQ? Even one that will turn fairly high RPM?

Just wondering what's going on... It's like they slipped from the face of the earth...

they didnt flop per say, you just need a very serious setup to take full advantage of one. $1500 is just too much for bling factor.

Not worth it N/A imo (first-hand knowledge). F/I or high rpm use, maybe.

yeah +1 on n/a and not a maybe fi, injected showed clearly what the manifold can do on top end on a Fi application.
As far as i know the only one that leaked was eaglegreens set up, but injected had no issues, i believe they eve ran it on their drag car

Thanks for the info...

There must be some kind of rule... If an intake looks really cool... it doesn't perform well... Shame...

it didn't flop at all IMHO - the problem is the masses 'hoped' it would be the second coming for a car with bolt ons, which is was never designed to be. Foir your typical bolt on car, its looks nice and performs assentially as well as a plenum spacer. For FI use its shown to give very nice gains. I wanted to try it on my car, but the biggest issue is you just can't get your hands on one. No one has them and Cosworths eta's keep changing. Time will tell if its worthwhile for a built NA setup.

N/A gains similar to a spacer for 4-5X the cost isn't so good

i agree, it really isnt worth modding NA other than 2,3 bolt-ons at best

Given, the Cos definetly has its strength in high rev F/I applications, as proven by Injected and Forged's testing.

But for the rest of applications, it's definetly not the holy grail of manifolds that many thought it would be..Slow productions doesn't help matters.

again, not the piece to pick if all you have is bolt ons...but that doesn't stop people from claiming they "must have it". For the right application, it definitely delivers the goods and is priced very fairly for being a cast piece with the carbon bits

I'd respectfully disagree Different paths, but either can be a nightmare, or very rewarding, depending on a variety of factors
