Default exhaust comparison HKS/INJEN

First off I tried to search but couldn't come up with a direct comparison.

I'm looking at putting a full dual exhaust system on a 2006 350z gt including performance headers. I was looking at either hks or injen but since I am new to the z ( owned for a few months ) I want to make an informed decision. Does anyone have some opinions of these two brands? I'm not looking for something that sounds like a fart can on a rice mobile but rather just more performance and quality. Is either one superior in fit and finish and build quality? rust problems? fit problems? Or does anyone have another system they would highly recommend?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated

they are both really loud. if you dont want a "fart can" sound, the HKS is a higher pitch and is definitely of higher quality imo. performance wise, i dont think there is going to be a noticeable difference.

There a ton of threads on the HKS and I believe a few on the Injen as well. I don't see how you couldn't find any threads if you really did search. Check out YouTube as well there are ton of sound clips. You should post in the Intake/Exhaust section next time.

Check out the clips and try to listen to the exhausts in person. I have read countless threads that the HKS sounds amazing and has an excellent quality. It all depends on how much you want to spend as well.

I could find information on both but since I have never seen these systems in person I wanted some opinions on a direct comparison of these two and could not find this type of a thread. Also try typing in hks / injen and see what amounts of garbage you come up with.

they all say that when they do not feel like actually researching stuff for themselves. instead they want the fast answer. last time this was asked, here is the thread

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=HKS

notice no replies?

and this one

https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....&highlight=HKS

of course, the second one got locked because if this thread was posted in the right forum, this one should be locked as well. basically what it boils down to is what you are willing to pay for your exhaust. aftermarket ones are loud and opinions on which sound better are jsut that. what one person will say sounds like crap the other will say it sounds great. not really a good way to make a decision huh?

Did you check out youtube yet? Try streetfire.net as well. There is also a section dedicated to exhaust clips on the intake/exhaust forum.

Default injen exhaust

i highly recommend the injen. to me it sounds more exotic. a lot deeper than the hks. don't get me wrong i bought many things from hks for my rx7's and supra's. hks is a really good company. i had a titanium hks exhaust on my supra and the sound was amazing. it was like a deep growl. my friend has an hks exhaust on his 03 350z. but for some reason it sounds higher pitched and it almost has a slight rasp to it. i was expecting a deper growl from it. they are both loud, the injen is just deeper. quality wise hks might be one up from injen. but, the sound makes up for it. trust me pull the trigger and get the injen you 'll be happy you did.

I had the injen (Non TI) on my last totaled Z and I would not get it again. It's just so load. When I got my new 06z it made me happy to have the stock exhaust back. Maybe the H-pipe on the TI sounds better then the non H-Pipe version?

I have the Injen with the titanium tips and i dont believe its all that loud. To me, its only moderately loud...i want to go louder with test pipes.

Like ive said in all the other threads about the injen exhaust, it sounds great. Ive heard alot of other exhausts in person (hks, invidia, fast intentions, greddy evo2 TT, borla, and nismo) but i still think the injen sounds the best.

My only gripe is the drone at 2000 rpm. but thats okay, since the exhaust just screams at redline. Puts a smile on my face everytime.

well i havent heard a lot of exhausts in person, but i have heard these two next to each other on a few occasions.

i have the injen SES on my G35. the ONLY thing i would complain about is the drone at around 2000-2500 RPM under heavy load in a high gear. its annoying to put it simply. but if you just drop one gear the noise goes away until you can switch gear out of that point in the rev range.

i personally would recommend the injen because of the sound qualities. it sounds amazing under WOT at redline. so aggressive and unique. the stillin, HKS, Invidia, and numerous exhaust shop cat-backs that i have heard cannot come close to the noise the Injen makes. under highway speeds around 70-75, the exhaust is almost inaudible, with only a slight humm.

i raced a 350z 6-speed with an HKS on the i-10 and was lucky enough to have heard it go thru a few gears under WOT. his exhausts sound was so much different than mine. a lot higher pitch than i would like... it does sound nice but i believe the injen sounds more aggressive

sorry for the long post

your saying that the injen is the loudest? i heard that the invidia n-1 was pretty loud if not the loudest.

lol funny people stating that injen and hks are loud. they obviosuly dont know about the louder choices out on the market or w/ test pipes..

+1 for hks. my injen has clearance issues and i like the hks sound better. more interior resonance with the injen too

i cant speak for other people, but i did not imply injen is the loudest by any means. however, you would would be lying to say it is one of the tamer ones.
