Default Intake question

Yes I reasearched it but no one seems to actually cover this. Is the cf intake tube cooler or is it just for show? I think it's for show but somone said it wasn't and I was just wondering if anyone actually knew.

cooler? as in it looks "cool"? or it keeps the air cooler?

the answer is that it's for looks. technically aluminum and steel will absorb heat much more than plastic, or carbon at that. however the air is moving through the intake tubing at a rate where heat transfer is relatively negligible if you're driving faster than 5 mph and bringing in ambient air.
