i was wondering if i can put on my stock y pipe on my nismo exhaust. I'm running test pipes as well. Any drawbacks? Huge loss of power? nasty sounds? Anyone have experience? Reason is that i want to sell my nismo y pipe for the time being and get something else down the road.
Stock Y pipe would be more restrictive than the NISMO so you are looking at a HP loss of 3-5 which is negligible... You will quiet it down a bit as well. Probably lose some of it's throatiness..

Put the stock Y-pipe back on when my Nismo Y-pipe developed a leak at the flex section. Fit is not an issue. Did not notice a change in sound or performance.
BTW, I think the flex sections on the Nismo Y-pipe are in a bad location, especially when installing with test pipes or HFC's. With my HFC's, the stock Y-pipe, and the mid-pipe back Nismo system there seems to be less visible vibration of the exhaust under the car.
