Default Help: HKS dual vs. Tanabe hyper medallion

Ok guys, this is my dilema. I been trying to decide which exhaust to get between the HKS dual power exhaust or the Tanabe hyper medallion exhaust with a tanabe y pipe. Now I know that ill prob get more hp from the hks, but besides that, which is better sound wise? Do they drone any at all? I heard the hks can drone sometimes. I reallly dnt want to have drone on the highway, what do u guys think?

also, how much more hp would i get with the hks setup?

The HKS seems very calm to me at cruising speeds. I don't notice any drone on the highway. I think the resonators do a good job of eliminating any drone. The Tanabe looks like a great setup as well, so you can't go wrong with either one. The hp difference on an NA setup will be so minimal that it shouldn't sway you one way or the other. Here's a clip of my HKS for reference.

The Hp thing isnt a factor , there pretty much the same. The Tanabe sounds like a VQ, just louder, the HKS makes a sound like a Cessna .

Tanabe prolly.

As for horsepower gains, even with supporting mods being NA will only show minimal gains.

Tanabe. No drone at all, heck my car sounds like i don't have an exhaust when im crusing until you give it some more gas does it come to life. HKS can't do that, at least my friends never did (which is why he got rid of it). Looks i'll give it to the HKS but noise is my number 1 concern on an exhaust, as long as it doesn't have canisters.

Anyone have a vid of HKS at cruising speed, from inside the cabin?

What's the difference betweent the Tanabe "Touring" and the "Ultra" exhausts?

*I like the double-walled and polished tips on the Tanabe better than the HKS's burnt Ti with the exposed adjusting bolts...but I ordered the HKS anyways because I liked the overall look of it better and because, call me crazy, I like the "Single Engine-Prop" sound as opposed to a deep bass "Boooooooonnnnnnnggg!" sounding exhaust. My preference is all.

They are both ok. One cost twice as much as the other.

If I was to spend $1,300 on an exhaust it better sound the way I want it, and the HKS just doesn't cut it. But that's just me.

I prefer a Nismo exhaust with some resonated test pipes or HFC's.

Lol. That is by far the most accurate description I have heard for the HKS.

if you don't want that much attention then get the tanabe. i have a tanabe super medalion hyper with their y-pipe and when your car is warmed up it's very quiet when idleling. so if you want more attention from the police and want to spend the extra cash then get the HKS. tanabe is good and it looks just like stock only with a bigger tip. also a lot cheaper too

doesn't need a thread to do that.

1 objective is to buy an exhaust for the Z
2 check your bank account and make sure all is good, know what you want in the exhaust (sound, looks, single or dual, etc)
3 find the exhausts you want
4 go to youtube and that for sound clips, search and see pictures of how they look, even better would be to find someone local with the same exhaust you like and listen in person. make your own comparisons
5 if still unsure, search and read threads from owners of these exhausts.
6 make your selection
7 go to one of the vendors and buy the thing

too simple right?

even before making a new thread just read the stickies provided at the top of the page. they explain a lot
