effortless. the hardest part was undoing and re doing the rear hose clamps. you'll need a variety of long-nosed pliers as those clamps are in weird positions.

I also went ahead and used threadlock and lockwashers. you will also want to clean the plenum real good and make sure all the powdercating rubber block stuff is out of the bolt holes.

one thing thats easy to forget is theres a little rubber cap on a vacuum connecter )unused extra one) on the front of the plenum, left hand side. remove it from the original one and replace it on the new one. it's easy to miss it.

I created the installation manual . . .it is very easy if you follow the instructions.

Here is a link (you may have to right click and save as).

cbsuper, If you want some help installing your manifold bring your car by the shop....I will help you out no problem.....I would like to see the manifold anyway. Just give me a call. If you do decide to install it yourself I want a ride in your car when its done.

This appears to be a great mod, and I have no clue why the factory would have the front cylinders running so rich. What I have a question about is its application in a future supercharger mod. I know that right now, the only one out there is the procharger, but I have hopes that vortech will produce a SC for the Z also. Vortech lists on their site that their SCs are best with stock cars. Also, I assume that the procharger is not setup with any provisions for the plenum.

This product is very promising, some have said it is better than anything for the price. Most SC come with a new intake already, would this new plenum mess up what a manufactor intended for an SC???

Just got off the phone with Doug. You may have to wait a few weeks...I just bought what was apparently the last one and their welder is going on vacation. You can find their contact info on their web page though.

Damn I can't wait to get this thing on.

Doug raised the price up on the plenum. It was $400 but now it is $500. Hey, demand is exceeding supply.

mark350, it's sitting at SRD right now, but I'm going to try and install it myself. If not, I'll be rolling your way.

Would this mod void the engine warranty?

Did he? The introductory price of $400 is still listed on their website.

I agreed to 400$ plus 200$ for the strut bar plus shipping...500$ was never mentioned, and I spoke to Doug today.

Cool. Are there any dynos for the plenum available? All I've seen are the original ones posted here:
https://my350z.com/forum/showthread....wford+and+dyno

From these, it looks like the only gains to be had are at the very top end. I know top end is what they were shooting for, but I was hoping for something in the every day driving range; otherwise, it seems this mod would only benefit racers or hardcore modders. I rarely rev my engine past 5500.

I really like what everyone has to say about this mod but I just can't get over how bad the installation looks, I thought that I read that there was some kind of cover?

When I had first purchased the plenum Doug had said that he was going to raise the price to $500, but hey if he's still selling them for $400 get in while the getting is good.

This has been the number one gripe. The cover will not fit back on the engine once the plenum has been changed. We used all the available space to increase the front volume of the plenum. I would say you could customize a cover but there is really not much room between the hood and engine. The plenum is welded by a master welder and then powder coated. The welds get better with every plenum he does. Mine was the 3rd one complete and I argued with someone for 5 minutes saying it was welded by hand. The powder coating (silver standard, but other colors can be done for a fee and extra lead time) really looks good ***PLUS*** it stays much cooler. Many people have told me it looks "performance", "race car", and even "mean." No one has said anything about the looks after they try the piece on their car and feel the difference. Also, I get more looks at shows over the cars with the dressed up stock look.

I would really like to purchase a plenum but I want to keep the stock struts in their place. Any possible way I can get around that?

I am not sure if you are clear about the replacement strut tower bar, but you are just moving the bar by changing the bracket (it just screws on body with three bolts per side). There are no actual suspension changes. If I misunderstood your concern and you are infact not thrilled with moving the bar I apologize.

Most modifications require some sacrifice, in this case it was worth it IMO, even if you dont use the bar anymore. It was an afterthought by Nissan anyway (not really needed).
