Yea, mine is used but still has it too. To the OP: looking at since yours don't have the connecting bracket, it's possible that it was scraped off? Is your car lowered?

Yes my car is lowered - 1inch all around. Any no my Nismo exhaust did not come with those extra brackets:

I'm guessing this is a known issue to them and they have since put those brackets on since my purchase 3 years ago - july 2005.

Just make sure you have spare oem cats so you can ship in your test pipe/HFC for warranty work when they do crack.
I think a few people switched out the Nismo y-pipe for like JIC and they have no problems. I'm actually running Intense's y pipe right now with my berk HFC and nismo exhaust. So far no problems. But then I'm not even sure if it is the nismo y-pipe that is cracking hfc/tps. That's just what I had assumed from a couple of other threads so I went ahead and got a different y-pipe just incase.

The Brackets are on the new exhaust because of the CRACKING problem. Nissan fix but all the people with the old style are a$$ out.

Which brackets are you referring to? Which pipe are they located on?

+1 on teh Nismo breaking ****. I don't know why it would be any different than any other exhaust, but apparently it doesn't fit quite right or something and puts undue stress on the rest of the exhaust components = Breakage = FAIL.

Back from the dead! Well now my URC Cats have cracked - well at least the passenger side one. I have a half penny size whole in one near the mounting point. I think it may have already been cracked and stressed from my original devil Nismo y-pipe and the fatigue finally got the best of it.

Pics:

Decided to just replace these with Berk test pipes.

Much happier now - not much rasp and no CEL Yet.

My Berk's cracked in the same spot w/the Nismo exhaust. I put the OEM cats back on, I'm tired of dealing with cracking exhaust parts (broke 2 sets of Berk cats, and 1 Nismo Y-pipe).

I believe the reinforcement gusset was added to the Y pipe in late 05 or early 06. I hope mine cracks so I can justify replacing it with a motordyne one.

I'm willing to bet the Nismo y-pipe is the source of aftermarket HFC's cracking as well. I had the "reinforced" Crawfords fail on me after only 3 months, and the same with the Berk's, both in the same spot too.
