OK, called a couple of dynoshops, Looks like a couple of weeks before i could get the car in, Earliest sounds like 2 weeks, $90 for 2 baseline runs, then they would be willing to change the y pipe and do another run. Is this to far out? Let me know, cause I'll set up the appointment today.

That's perfect! Gives me time to get the y-pipe to you and no rushing!

Set up the appointment and start charging your digi camera battery.

What email addy can i send the PayPal invoice? Or if you want to take the initiative send me a payment for $450 to matt350z@yahoo.com; that's my PayPal ID.

Ok, I have a dyno appointment set for Aug 7, 2 baseline runs runs ($90) then they will change the y pipe. They then suggest to drive it for 25 miles, then do another pull, or they said they can change it and do the pull right away, what do ya think?

Lets ask people who are interested in buying this y-pipe what they would feel as suffice evidence to correct dyno procedures.

And we will do as the consensus recommends.

Hi Matt,

Spoke to you this evening, and I am pretty keen on giving the 'Y' pipes a run; that is if Chicago does not come through.

In fact, I was considering on the Nismo Weldina cat back exhaust, the Techno Square ECU firmware upgrade next week and installing the enhanced grounding system this weekend.

Presently, my 350Z is still holding virgin status, with slightly more than 1000 miles to its belt.

Let me know, what your plans are and I would suggest a meet to confirm the.....um … erred....commitments, nuts and bolts upfront.

G

Excuse my lack of knowledge about our exhaust systems, but is a y-pipe included in a cat-back system like the Injen Dual? Or is the y-pipe the part just after the headers.

The sponsorship has closed. I have received payment from vfr350 and he will be the sponsoree in our test.

As you read, he has an appointment to dyno on Aug 7th.

I will put the order in tomorrow with Acosta and provide them your preferred shipping address.

Best,

Matt

It really depends on the car and how the manufacturer produced it. Here is a borrowed photo with pointers to where the y-pipe start and end, and where the catback starts and ends.

This is gonna be great. Especially since I was at the track on Friday where i ran a 14.22 at 98 mph, more baseline figures, but i might not get back to the track till the fall. Anyway,I hope we can all gain some knowledge on this one...

You think you are excited? I have had this all summer and enoyed it without knowing for sure how much it had improved my numbers. I am really really really excited!

It was impossible for me to test dyno this because i had several mods when i got the pipes made and i had the GHL Motorsport exhaust on the car already.

Nismo will always be available. Can you wait to see how much whp this y-pipe puts out? then decide? Or is the retail cost of $800 not in your shopping range?

The fujitsubo for $450 looks like a good alternate y-pipe.

An fyi. headers would also add even more free flow air. When we took apart the stock y-pipe the piping leading up to the engine looked like a STRAW! no more than 1.5 inches in diameter!

OUR VQ is sufficating from the factory.

the fujitsubo is nice, but your leaving out one thing! if they buy it, they will still need to replace the cats to equal yours! personaly im a big fan of "test pipes"! but for anyone just trying to save a buck, your still going to need to replace your cats to reach matts gains! ( just a thought ) i bet you cali guys are lovin these high flow cats! great job matt!

I suppose I could, and which headers are you matching your pipes to?

Hey I am just trying to make more products available to the Z community that adds some value, while making some side change. One thing I learned was for sales, always set your customer's expectations and try to over deliver. I haven't always been successful in doing so, but i will try my best.

The real kudos goes to Acosta Racing and specifically Orlando Acosta for tig welding these and taking precise measurements.

There is no better feeling than knowing that man hours resulted in parts for my car. I always have to hear my friend talk about the man hours it took to stitch his 2002 ferrari maranello roof liner. what a lucky *****.

So far my body kit, y-pipe, and intake have never been touched by an assembly line.

No headers yet. I asked Acosta to make me custom headers but they said it wasnt smart business. They saw the top secret headers and they told me they were "shorties" and did nothing for the Z. Titanium is over-rated and will not add more power or durability for headers. they advised me to get the Borla headers because they are mass produced and in the photo, appeared better than top secret's. (If Top Secret wants to send me a single turbo kit, i will remove my comments ASAP)

Marcos Sr asked me, why would we make headers and spend manual labor and higher prices when borla can deliver 80% of performance for cheaper costs. As for y-pipe, there's nothing solid from a mass production stand point in my opinion.

So I will probably get borla headers. havent decided yet. Nismo has them out now too. I would need to see dynos. hehe.

Just a FYI for some.

The true dual exhausts completely get rid of the Y-Pipe.

BUT, it uses the stock cats.

If you are going to run a true dual then all you need are a pair of high flow cats.
