Default N E 1 chop the mid-pipe muffler? SOund???

Wondering if anyone has replaced the 2nd muffler, on the mid-pipe with a resonator or just a straight pipe? I would think with the resonator in place, like nismo and other aftermarket mid-pipe, it will sound louder but still have our unique growl. I love the exhaust notes on Z's and infinity especially hearing a Z or G pass by at mid range. Only thing is you don't hear it at high range and you have to roll your windows down to hear it at all.

Some reason the car drives better when you hear the notes and shifting....must be a mental thing.

That guy was an idiot for doing that to his Amuse exhaust. Ruined the sound.

um, the so called "muffler" on the mid-pipe is a resonator. why would you want to remove it just to put another one on there? also it will sound liek *** if you take it off completely

DON'T DO IT!

HORRIBLE SOUND! The resonator is more important than the muffler.
If you want loud on the cheap, just take off the muffler. It will sound 10X better than taking out the resonator.

Well...Thanks for the tips. I haven't seen the inside of the mid pipe's resonator but its twice as big, compared to a normal resonator used on aftermarket exhaust.

ZO4, Is it straight through or have multiple chamber? HFC or resonated TP is the way to go but i figgure I check it out before making a decision. Thanks again.

The stock resonator actually constricts a little but its straight through.

I found a clip from You tube. This guy had the same idea. He took off the resonator on the stock exhaust. Results = No rasp...louder...but sounds too much like a cherry bomb. LOL. Sounds a lot better then non-resonated TP though. I bet with a nismo mid pipe or smaller resonator, it would sound really good. If I had time I do it but someone should try this.

Then again. Here's a strup NON-RESONATED TP as well.. Big Difference. Sounds excellent I think. My car makes the same noise like a robotic rattle noise. Anyone hear it? You can hear it in this clip when he lets of in the stand still rev and also when he takes off. I could never locate this cyber rattle.

TT'd with open dumps and straight pipes to HKS mufflers. Sound beautiful!! I wouldn't do it to a stock system though
