why so many JWT popcharger in private sale
i took mine off a couple weeks ago. never had any problem. great sound. butt dyno- no complaints. the only reason i took it off is that i have the Asuka hood and the filter is sitting exactly where the vent is. got tired of wrapping it with plastic everytime i clean and wash the car. that's why just reinstalled my stock airbox and bought me a HKS filter. there was this one time after cleaning the car i forgot to remove the plastic that was covering the filter. started the engine and a couple of seconds later heard a very loud whistling noise. turned off theengine, popped the hood. and as soon as i opened the hood, oohhhh shiiitttttt- in slow-mo!!!. my stock intake tube had collapse and so did the jwt filter. took the whole intake assembly from the throttle body to the filter and just pushed everything from inside to out.
heat soak/no engine stalls/performance loss???
>there is heat soak but once you get to 40mph the cool air from the outside takes over, been discussed way to many times
>no engine stalls here, heck thought that was a thing of the past already (older model Z's)
>performance loss...... from a stop yes, from a roll no, who buys a popcharger for performance gains
OP: everyone basically has one and people are always getting rid of it, or people are lazy to keep it clean and get tired of cleaning or people find a thread that talks about heat soak and panic...possibilities are endless with such a controversial part in the 350

IMO I want a N/A setup for drag racing.. Id rather get a N&N with a air duct
I've got one on my '03. Members say upgrading to the '06 airbox is better than the popcharger. I've never used the '06 airbox, but I can say that I do enjoy the popcharger. I haven't noticed any heatsoak, but that's not to say it's not there. I do love the sound. I'm stock elsewhere except for the soundsystem. When the stereo is down and the revs are up the popcharger sounds amazing. I say go for it.
Without a fan in front of the cars (I don't know why), a Z with less mods and an AEM intake put down 16 more HP than me. I have the stock 06 with blitz filter. I'm guessing that without a fan, the stock box really can't function? This guy had intake, headers, and exhaust. I have plenum spacer, mrev2, blitz filter/varis duct, headers, hfcs, y-pipe, blitz exhaust, and a technosquare reflash. My car was running about 14.0 AFR, which I thought should be about perfect for power and reliability. I'm baffled. I put down 257 with my JWT intake and just 234 yesterday. They did say that their dyno is off... but how did a Z with an AEM put down so much more with less total mods? Would the lack of fans go in his favor?
Sorry to semi-threadjack, I'm just trying to figure out what happened. I know the most obvious thing to do is go to a better dyno that has been recently calibrated and get real numbers. I don't have the funds right now for that.
But back on track: I sold my pop charger to go back to the hailed stock 06 box with drop in.
