From what I understand, you can't use the Nismo midpipe with this muffler because the flanges are different. You have to find an aftermarket midpipe that fits just like the stock one. And so far I haven't found one. You CAN use any aftermarket Y pipe though

without a Y pipe either. So basically it's just the rear muffler and nothing else. I'm thinking about buying this and the Nismo Y pipe. The only thing that really attracts me to it are those sexy tips. I think they look even better than the R1 titan exhaust tips

no sorry, I don't have any soundclips
again, let's be clear on this because there seems to be people guessing about things.
This is a replacement Muffler. It will directly replace the Muffler only on the Z. If your mid pipe can bolt to a stock muffler, it will bolt to this. If your muffler does not bolt to a stock midpipe, then some modification will be required, which I am sure any exhaust shop can handle easily.
It was released the same reason many companies are moving to axle back systems for a variety of cars (Evo X, STI, etc) -because there is nothing wrong with the stock midpipe, and people want the look with the ti tips, without the high entry price, that they can install themselves simply with hand tools.
again, let's be clear on this because there seems to be people guessing about things.
