Default Opinions Wanted

The first thing I'm doing with my 100% stock Z is adding an exhaust. I'd say the wheels but they're on a 120 day order from Volk. I'm putting it in the General category because I'd think almost everyone on here has an exhaust and may not necessarily post in the engine forum.

Ok real simply put, I'm looking for peace of mind before I make my purchase. I originally wanted the HKS TD for the aggressive look. The problem is for every one exhaust clip I find for the HKS that I like, there's about 3 others I hate. I'm not a fan of rasp but some cars, probably the ones with cats in place, sound pretty good. Is there any recommendations of a TD exhaust that will be loud but keep a deep tone?

Don't really care for the Borla slip fits…. Or the angled look that some have. Then again if it's going to have a deep rumble instead of a higher pitcher "burr" I'd consider anything. Just trying my best to keep my car away from the rasp or rice sound especially for my plans to remove the cats with the turbos, granted that acts somewhat as a sound suppressant.

Thanks for the help.

You're not crazy but most forums I've searched though are very general…. What's best whp gain on N/A motor… Single exhausts… turbo exhausts… and just plain what do you think about this specific exhaust. I wanted mine question to aimed specifically towards anti-rasp tones. I've heard the phrase it's a VQ, it'll never sound like a lawn mower…. that's crazy.

a lot of people like the sound of the x02 (knockoff HKS) more than the HKS itself. if your looking to not spend upwards of a thousand dollars... just a thought

Motordyne's new duel for NA aplications would be a good choice. It should also work well for FI, just won't be the best for FI like any exhaust for NA applications.

ok im sh1tfaced right now but i actually wanna help this time. Anyways I am on my 10th exhaust. I have had Singles TDs and y pipe TDs i guess u call it. If u actually want help and searching the forums over and over and sound clips and that still didnt help and u have been to meets in ur area to listen............ Then i would give us more info. Like whats ur price range? In the future do u plan on FI? Anyways If u say u dont want rasp then def dont go HKS. I just sold mine after craving it and i honestly think it sounds ok but just talked up 2 much. So give us more info if u want help

The plan is ultimately to go turbo, whether or not it's a single or twin is a different story. I know it's all about turbo spec application and the potential benefits of either. Leaning towards twins just for the power curve, may be easier to keep traction without that abrupt power change.

As for the exhaust, I have no set price range. Sound is the most important thing for me followed by performance then appearance. There's just such overwhelming support for the HKS on the these forums, well most people (love or hate kind of thing). I just wanted to get a better understanding of what all the hype is about. Maybe I'm just not getting good sound clips. I remember this time last year I was listening to Borla clips for my Altima coupe and had some decent rasp in the recordings. Whether or not the engine was cold or was a bad recording, the sound was perfect in person.

Anyways, after doing even more searching I've come across the Bassani and think I might have something of interest. I don't mean to post a noob question of which exhaust out of dozens available, I should have been more specific and asked which exhausts have little to no rasp. That and I want to feel out opinions on the HKS, people who have heard it or owned one in person. Thanks.

If you are going turbo then you should get an exhaust with an exhaust diameter 2.5" or greater..

Fast Intentions Dominator, GReddy EvoTT, APS exhaust, or AAM 3" exhaust..

even with u asking what has the less rasp is the same noob question as what is the best exhaust..... Anyways if u DO plan on going turbo which every1 does at 1 point but it doesnt happen anyways dont go bassani or hks. Like bob said u need 2.5 or more and i def rec 3". ANd the greddy evoTT if people remember is no longer for sale. So I def rec APS 3" TD or the AAM or the Greddy TiC. /thread
