I'm not exactly the expert on exhaust but the advantages to titanium are

1. less corrossion
2. MUCH less weight

as for it's downsides, I am sure there are some, but as to what they are, I do not know.

Downside for Ti = Cost

Doubt you'd see much if any corrosion difference between Ti and stainless in the life of the car.

So the Ti Exhaust is muc more superior than Stainless but only the cost is the problem? Which one sound better comparison between the Ti and Stainless? Does the power increase on Ti is the same as the Stainless?

Thanks

Assuming the exact same exhaust, one made from Ti the other from SS there would be no power or sound difference.

Ti is lighter and a bit more exotic, that's it.

Ti exhausts are on average 30-40 lbs. lighter than a SS exhaust (catback). This makes a slight effect on the car's overall acceleration (it does nothing to add power, but it does help more power to be used to accelerate the car as it makes the car lighter. I forgot about the cost factor. Ti is close to TRIPLE the cost of a SS exhaust $2100 vs. $600 (Borla)

Titanium- the trade off is a lot of cost against a small reduction in weight. The stainless steel is heavier, but will last longer than the rest of the car, anyway.
So, it is only a question of your wallet size...
if you want to see a little faster acceleration- you would get the same effect of weight reduction by running with only a few gallons in the tank (a full tank adds about 120 pounds or so), or you could do the same with both the low tank and the lighter exhaust, but the difference would be in the hundredth's of seconds... have fun

Another thing to add is that Ti requires very specialized welding procedures. On the slim chance you needed something repaired most shops probably could not help...

You can buy the Veilside Titanium Tardrop exhaust for only $1,400. This version has titanium tips and stainless steel piping. It is $1,700 for the whole exhaust in titanium and only weighs 14lbs.

there is a sound difference in titanium. Titanium has less density than stainless steel, so it has a metallic ring to it. It's hard to describe in words, but it sounds very cool.

On average, the Ti version will weigh about 1/2 of stainless.

What swifty said about the noise is correct. Mild steel is the densest of materials you would see in an exhaust system, is the cheapest, and is the least durable when exposed to the elements. being that its dense, they tend to sound more bassy.

Stainless comes next - lightweight, looks good, if its made from quality stainless, it will not rust (yes, stainless steel can rust!) like mild steel. How light it is varies from company to company. Stainless is not as dense as mild steel, so it sounds a bit more agressive than the same system done ion mild steel.

Titanium is very light, very strong, and resists corrossion even more. The material itself is not all that costly, but the process and equipment needed to properly weld it is, hence the cost. On average, a Ti cat back goes from around $1100.00 on up, so defiantely not cheap. Being the least dense of the above three maerial,s it will have the most raspy sound.

But in order to determine the best overall note, which is highly subjective, its best to try adn listen to them all. As we get more and more into loading our Z section to the site, we willl actually have sound demos available for all the systems we offer - hopefully by years end.

thanks for the advice and Info. As far as i know the best Stainless exhaust would be made by Borla. But who made the best Ti exhaust or has the highest performance?

Thanks

The downsides are that they are horrible for daily driving. Titanium is supposable worse in terms of susceptibility to breaking than stainless steel because they are supposedly bad for continuous expansion and contraction due to heat during daily driving. Greddy stopped using full Ti exhausts years back because of this. I'm not completely certain but this is what I have heard in the past.
