Default Is it just me.....

I installed my titek test pipes last week and right away i noticed a big time difference in exhaust tone (deeper, louder at WOT). However, yesterday and today, the car didn't seem as loud. Well its still a bit louder than what it sounded before i installed it, but it quieted down a notch. I'm pretty sure its not just me getting used to the sound because my girl told me it got a little quieter. It can't be an exhaust leak right because that would make the sound louder. Also I just wanted to know is it possible for test pipes to be "broken in" to where the sound quiets down? Thanks!

Ehhh... lol, this isn't the most logical answer but maybe the weather?

at 60 degrees noise sounds the loudest and the decibles go down which ever way the tempeture goes.. hotter or colder.

+1

If it's cold outside then your car starts at a higher rpm to warm up. The high rev is causing you to think your exhaust is louder even though it's not..but once it warms up the car goes back down to idle rpm's, and then you think it's quiet..

I don't know man.. all I know is that when I first got my hfc cats installed the installer twisted my exhaust a bit and since I have a borla exhaust some of the fittings came a bit loose so I had crazy amounts of exhaust leak, was very loud and then got all the joints welded together and it was a lot quieter.

One way to tell if you have an exhaust leak is at start up, if you have a manual transmission your car's rpm will rise like normal and immediately fall nearly to stalling/zero. Now that the leak is fixed the rpms don't fall past 300.
