Default New MotorDyne exhaust w/ pics and soundclips

Hey guys and gals I just wanted to post up some information about my new MotorDyne exhaust. First things first I would like to say thanks to Tony for the opportunity and a quality product.

My modifications are K&N Typhoon intake system, a thermal wrapped intake tube, MotorDyne 5/16" spacer and MREV2, UR underdrive pulley set, an Uprev tune and Helix test pipes.

The exhaust I got from Tony was the XYZ Y pipe, the straight pipe and the resonator and the dual titanium mufflers with the titanium tips. See below.

Secondly this was supposed to be a dyno, soundclip and picture post up. Well, when I got the car dynoed this week I found I was too lean with the stock exhaust to make any meaningful comparison of the dynos, so I won't even try. I will skip that part for now. The moral to the story is if you get an Uprev mail in tune, check the AFR's. While they did a good job (I picked up 2-2.5 tenths in the quarter mile), always check the tune on the dyno because EVERY car is different. Unfortunately the guys at McNew's Automotive in Dillsburg, Pa, (a quick thanks to the guys there as well) had already started removing the stock exhaust by the time I saw the "stock" dynos. Here are some pictures while I was at McNew's Automotive.

When I first got the new exhaust I put all the pieces in a box and weighed them. It weighed 46.8lbs including the box.

When I got back from the dyno shop I put all the pieces in the same box and weighed the stock exhaust. This is what I got.

Since it was the same box, the difference between these two weights is the only thing that matters. The MotorDyne exhaust weighs 16.4lbs less than the stock exhaust. Nice!!

Here are some pics of the exhaust on the car.

My impressions of the exhausts from inside the cabin are as follows:

Stock - raspy from 1600 - 2600. Above that a nice mellow tone.
Straight pipe - louder, more drone but not obnoxious and brighter.
Resonator - belive it or not about the same as the straight pipe but not quite as bright.

From outside the car it's a whole different ballgame:

Stock - has a bright warbling sound
Straight pipe - much louder and brighter sounding than the resonator but much deeper than the stock exhaust.

Resonator - Much quieter. Very deep and mellow. Nice tone when you get on it. Barely noticable when your not on the gas pedal.

I'm having some issues posting up the sounclips. I will have to post them up later. I have to get my son to his hockey game.

Again my thanks to Tony for a quality product.

That looks great. Sucks to hear that there is some rasp, maybe the titanium is causing that? Maybe how like the amuse is raspy.

I hoped to see photos from under the car on a lift. Still very sharp. Information write-up.

Correct! The stock exhaust with the Helix test pipes had rasp.

Sorry, I should have. The pictures would have looked just like these in this thread. The 9th picture down looks like my setup.

..............minus all of the beautiful shiny stuff!!

P.S. Help!! I'm trying to post up the audio only sound clips through youtube. I have Vista Home Premium and when I run it through Moviemaker it makes it a .wma file. Apparently Youtube wants a .wmv or a .avi file. I'm a novice at this so if anyone can lend a hand just pm me please. Thanks ahead of time.

the only vids ive ever made were actually on a point and shoot camera. I just used an SD card and uploaded the vid straight to youtube. It took about 15 minutes but worked fine.

Mine wont open them as zip files. I believe you said that you are using moviemaker. After you save your project, did you go back to File and select "Save Movie File"?
