I was on my way back to from college earlier today and my CEL came on for the first time ever. I stopped by the AutoZone to get it checked out and it threw this code:
P0430 Catalyst deficiency
Note: I have Berk HFCs. I have had them for about 8-9 months.
I am at work now and will be off at 5:00pm. As soon as I get home I will put the car on stands and inspects the cats. Hopefully they have not cracked.
The car felt the same. No sound deviation either.
My guess is that the cats are not doing their job, which is catalyzing the exhaust gases. If I recall this is also the code people receive when they run test pipes without non-foulers, so it makes sense.
So I believe I should reset the ECU. I know there is the ecu reset procedure with the pedal. But can it not also be reset by disconnecting the negative terminal on the battery?
Appreciate any help.

I also cleared the CEL light by using the pedal method. It was kind of tricky doing each procedure at the exact moment, but I got it done.
I will go to college Friday and see if the light comes back on. It's about 90 mile drive roundtrip..

It's a common CEL with test pipes and some HFC's. I bet you get the P0420 code sometime in the near future too, it's for the other bank. The oxygen sensors in the revups and HR's are tough to fool, even with non-foulers.

i can see your bunghole, lol
but seriously, that sucks, its not hurting anything though. I've been running with the CEL light on for a while now becuase of test pipes, its been more than fine

doesnt it go into limp mode or something.i was cruzing on the freeway and when the light came on my car made a little barely noticable jerk and changed my exhaust note.
so im pretty sure it reduces power or something else

I don't know about reducing power but I too have Berk HFC on my 08' HR. I've reseted the CEL many times and I've noticed it usually turns on when I'm crusing for more than 10 minutes at a constant 3k-3500rpms.. If I keep the rpms moving through my daily half hour drive to work it doeesn't show up... Hope that helps. btw, I'm getting the catalytics running below threshold code.

Some codes will make your car go to limp mode, but not the one telling you that your cats arent working anymore. I've been to the track to support this. I've run my fastest time with my SES light on from installing test pipes. So it definitely was not in limp mode.
those lights dont cause limp mode... But you can try kramykrams fix till something more permanent comes along. The 02's are seeing a lot of air and thinks the stock cats are still in place. So the ecu believes something is wrong with the cats, but it wont affect how the car performs at all. Do you HFC's stink like tp's do? Man after a hard pull to redline if I stop shortly after its horrible lol.

^^
yeah it stinks if I drive at high rpm's and come to a stop, but if I keep driving I don't smell anything.
I have about 228 miles since the ecu reset and the CEL hasn't come back yet. I believe the reason it came on that day was because I was driving kind of hard. I was keeping my rpm's high at around 5-6k for long periods of time..
