According to the exhaust shootout just released by Sports Z Magazine (just got it in the mail today) the Borla beats the other 5 tested for HP gains.

It sounds really good too IMO

BonZ..Shhhhh! I seem to have stirred up a hornets nest in another post. I definitely recommend the Borla. It is alot of pipes to clamp together but it is worth it!!!

Actually, Stillen made the most torque and was only 0.1 hp less than the Borla. Borla showed the least torque.
I think that the Stillen is much heavier than stock though.
From the reported numbers I think the Injen came out the best, reasonable torque and HP. Does the Injen have the angled pipes (don't care for that) ?

hey bullish
im also looking for an exhaust.
I waiting for injen to come out with some straight angle tips.
Injen is the best if ur looking for a import sound out of an import car. trust me
If apexi or tananbe come out with theirs and they make good gains from them....maybe i'll go with them.

"Import sound"? What is that? Sound quality is in the ear of the listener. It's intriguing how many exhaust systems there are for the Z, and, because it's a V engine, there are a lot of variations, sound-wise. Personally, I have yet to hear a "dual" system I like a lot.

I like the Fujitsubo, but, so far, nothing touches the Nismo, which reminds me the most of my Fiats and V6 Alfas.

I'm getting my car in the end of Sep, and I'm gonna get Fujitsubo, don't flame for this, but 350Z is an import, so I just don't feel right putting Borla on it, even though it does sound good and pretty cheap...

I'm not too impressed with the borla exhaust, mainly cause of the design and the sound isn't that great to me either.
The Injen sounds nice but the flanged tips I'm not too crazy about.
Haven't been too impressed with too many of the exhausts out there for the Z... that's kinda why I went with a custom N1 system.
But Apex is coming out with a N1 system, not like my own. It's not a true dual. But more of a dual outlet with mini N1's. I like how it looks and it sounds pretty nice.
But from what is out there I would choose the Injen mostly right now.

What is this "flanged" tips you are talking about?

Default Flanged tips

The tips of the exhaust do not stick out straight from the back of the Z. They are slanted a bit so they stick out at an angle. Doesn't look bad, but a little "ricey". If you want to keep your stock exhaust and just want it to be "louder", spend $0.50 and do this. I don't know of anything bad that might arise from doing this, but if anyone does, PLEASE let me/us know!

Well, one thing that's bad is the sound it makes.

Well, I guess as you said before "Sound quality is in the ear of the listener." Personally I like the sound the exhaust makes after I did this mod. One thing that I am debating on is whether or not I want to decrease the gap from 1/4" to 1/8". The sound is great, but it might be just a tad "too" loud. We'll see.

That's for damned sure! It's a good low growl when under normal driving but when you stab the gas pedal.... HOLY $HIT!!!!!! Talk about loud! I am definitely going to decrease the gap to 1/8" to see if it tones down the volume a bit. There is a definite drone on highways at speed.

It's an exhaust leak, plain and simple. This disrupts the flow of the exhaust and "could" have a negative impact on power. You're also taking a chance of Exaust intrusion in the passanger compartment. If that's your intent - Good Luck to you.

Wink my 2 cents

I have read so many posts on this that I decided to try something before I spent over 1K on exhaust. I have a friend that cut off the stock muffler and made a very simple Y with angled tips. It took less than 2 hours to do and cust under 100 bucks. It sounds awsome!!! No idea about HP gains, but I'm pretty sure I got the most bang for my buck. To all the nay sayers....i.e...."it's too loud" maybe you should have bought a mini van. It doesn't sound rice and looks clean. check it out.
