Y to mid-pipe flange. I was mistaken about the clearance to the crossmember on the mid-pipe, I have roughly 3/4 to 1" of clearance there.

Hey Genpac thanks for the pictures man. I have it set up the same way but its still hitting the crossmember. I do not know what to do. It seems that i ran out of thread on the bolt.

I didn't even use the springs on my Turbo XS. I just got a solid bolt and torqued the hell out of it. Gorilla torque specs. Whenever I unbolt this section, for any reason, I bolt it back the same way. I take a socket and place it between the mid brace and the pipe. This ensures clearance and allows me to focus my strength on torquing the bolts down rather than holding the pipe up and torquing the bolts. When you've got it tight, use your wrench or ratchet to tap the socket free.

been following thread, same here did not use springs, used longer bolts and torque'ed the **** out of them, no clearance issues, took out silencers, deep throaty sound, but I do have a set of Forged HFC's..... only problem I have is one tip is slightly higher.....

same here, one silencer came out easy, the other took a little force, try to rotate it, maybe tap it with a hammer, it will break loose....

I had this exhaust on my 07 and it took all my might with my brother's help to get those silencers out.

Also had to torque the hell out of the midpipe conection(using solid bolts, no springs) on a couple occasions to stop the sagging and hitting the crossmember. I had a horrible time lining up the Y pipe to the stock cats (1/4" off). I have read that some others had this issue, but not all.

With stock cats, I had a decent amount of drone that went away after about 2100-2200 rpms. After that, I did like the sound. The droning is the main reason the exhaust is sitting in my shed and I might sell it. Even with all these minor issues, I do think it was worth the money I paid for it.

I finally got the other one out after a long struggle. BTW on the y-pipe to cat connection do I need to use the oem gaskets from the stock y pipe?

If I remember correctly, I think I did reuse the stock gaskets.

The fact that the muffler hangs lopsided pisses me off. It makes it look like I didn't give a whoop and just threw it on.

The left tip pipe has a curve whereas the right one is straight. This design does wonders. I will have to pay a shop to modify this.

Just wanted to let everyone know I love this exhaust, nice deep sound, not to loud, I am running HFC's...good quality system...do not like the down pipe from the muffler though...but the sound overrides that.....made some adjustments to the tips and they fit perfect.....def remove those silencers...they suck......

What did you do to the tips to make the look even?

You can probably just add some washers under the hanger, on the side where the tip is higher to drop it and make it even. FYI, my tips look almost identical. The difference in height is so negligible that you have to stare at the tip side by side for a minute to actually notice anything.

I added small spacers to gain little extra clearance for the M brace. My mid pipe was just about touching the brace after the install. I knew that would definitely be trouble. The spacers under the M brace fixed the issue. After driving with the exhaust for over a week, I am really starting to dig it. Either I got used to it or it seemed to have gotten quiet over the last few days. I am driving with the silencers for now because of the highway drone but if this keeps up, I may take them out and let it rip.

BTW, I would not recommend reusing the gaskets. Just buy new OEM ones before you throw it all together. I am 5 for 5 as far as leaks are concerned when I reuse the gaskets. I always end up with a minor leak and I always end up getting a new to fix it. I learned my lesson.

My tips were perfect, but im still having trouble with the midpipe hanging too low and hitting my cross bar. Overall, excellent exhaust for the money.
If you like the sound, and theres no drone, why do u have the silencers in? Exhausts look discusting with silencers in them. No need for a silencer for this exhaust. Had a turboxs on my z33 and sounds awsome

a little bit of clearence is fine where the springs are. But 1 time i had to take apart that section. Then the springs were worn out and became lose. So i just put it back on without the springs

It's not the tips, it's the muffler. Once the tips are equal the right side of the muffler hangs lower, thus hiding the left some. I don't have to take a pic as other owners suffer from the same symptom. Some of you may not have a problem with it, but 470 is 470. HKS knock-off distributors may not have had any r&d or little compared to the original manufacturer but at least their fitment is, or looks, spot on. I paid for an original and have to now pay for someone to hack up this thing to look like it's equal on each side.

So much for symmetry.

I throw my silencers in on occasion just to change it up. I also painted them black so they really aren't visible. Not exactly a genius idea to solve the problem of them looking bad.

I feel the same way as Sixth_Vang. I don't feel I should need to get a brand new exhaust butchered just to have the muffler aligned right.

Wow, sorry to hear about the muffler alignment problems. Never had a problem with that on mine (or maybe i haven't looked close enough)

Silencers, what silencers? hehe

As for drone on the highway, pop it into 5th, thats what i do when its annoying
