VIDEO: Custom True Dual Maganflow catback!
Exactly. I've heard same exact setups with different tips that sound HORRIBLE. I dont know why the tips make such a huge difference. I really do love the tone the stock tips give. thats the reason why I used stock tips. I'm not trying to defend myself, im just explaining a cost breakdown. I could have included a few extra bucks for tips, but it would have been a waste of money for me.
i don't think tips make a difference in sound. the oem tips aren't resonated.
i paid $300 for my custom exhaust on my 3000gt. it had single 2.5inch piping from the headers back with 1 resonator, 1 magnaflow muffler, and some nice tips. so for a good true dual setup i couldent see spending more than $450
Having known Danny for as long as I have, he is one of the most hard working individuals I know. We may disagree quite a bit sometimes but christ some of you need to chill. I find it incredibly ironic that you are ragging on him for using stock tips when it seems 90% of you have melon cannons hanging off the end of your cars.
Reading comprehension is also a huge help, he has said he payed BELOW cost for something that between parts and labor would have been much more. Although his initial claim of 700 dollars was a bit misleading. On different note, my experience with exhausts the tips WILL alter the sound although resonated tips will make more of a difference.
Get this out of the 370z section though Danny! :-P And it does sound good and my butt dyno says it feels a bit faster!

The petty HATE in this thread FAILS.The OP hosted a good quality vid (albeit in the 370Z section and he graciously acknowledged his mistake) of a nice sounding exhaust mod.
While lacking the style and bling of many aftermarket exhausts, I don't think it looks ghetto or that he deserves to be flamed for retaining the stock exhaust tips. The exhaust obviously wasn't intended to be anything flashy. WTF is so wrong with trying to retain a somewhat stock appearance while improving sound and performance???

The OP's uncle did him a favor and gave him a nice sounding exhaust with a good 'ol family member discount (as the OP clarified).
Relax people. Quit being a bunch of ****** FTL.
i think it sounds awesome, for a family favor, its great. For the proposed $700 though I would want some cleaner looking piping. I like the stock tips, they're styled for our cars and aftermarket tips can be a hard choice, especially when most of them are marketed for camaro/firebirds, trucks and Mustangs.
I contemplated a simular design, good to know what it would sound like.
As for price comparison, a tuner shop in my area quoted me $1200-$1500+ for a similar setup on my G35, granted with higher quality piping and maybe a higher labor rate...it was enough to turn me away which I think was their mission.

I like the sounds and appreciate the work in the video as well. I always enjoy putting together a video with cool cinematics and music. Overall the vid was good and the sounds is good.
I would have prob put a couple straight through mufflers at the end (resonators maybe) just so it's not just pipes at the end. I wonder if just the pipes with no visible muffler at the back would attract cops to pull you over thinking that there is no muffler at all, thats my only worry.
$700 is a bit steep. I realize you are saying that pricing in case you get some guys to do that and send them to your uncle but still it's high. $500 maybe would be a better price. I realize that it would take probably 4 hours to put that together. There is no way you can do it in 2. Anybody who has built a custom exhaust for a car knows the time it takes, it's just not that simple.
I made my own 3" single for my Talon and I'm pretty good at exhaust, have a hoist and full shop and it was still a good 5-6 hours to get it exactly how I wanted after welding etc.. There is no way $300 would cover labor on that. It would take 30 mins to cut off the stock tips and clean them up properly so they are ready to weld on, never mind the flanges, cutting pipes, getting them in the right place and angle, grinding, tack welding then pulling it all down and full welding it up etc.. It's just not a 2 hour job.

I had 3" stainless header-back dual exhaust fabbed up for my SS with Borla XR1 15"ers, no flanges, except for at the headers, with custom hangars... Was just a wee-bit more than OPs cost. Was close to 6 hours labor.

But to the others, thanks for your pleasant opinions. My uncle told me not to reveal how much cost is, but to give people the "quote"
I paid far less for this awesome sounding exhaust than I would have for Inividia Fart Cans.
Interesting set-up. Sounds pretty darn good! Enjoy.
Funny - I just got my Nismo installed - and my 'ear meter' (different than my butt dyno) makes me think I'm going much faster than I am. The stock exhaust sounds so quiet to me now

I would really love to hear some of your expertise in the field of automobiles.
So what is it that you have done in the last thousand threads that put you in the high and mighty crowd. Tell us, tell us all about your grand automobile knowledge and what it is that makes you so much more special from the rest of us, that in every post I ever see from you, it's raging on another individual.

. i say u shouldv went 3" and test pipes then u would have a sick setup. I like it until about 4K rpm.
sounds good OP! nice vid too... but i just have to correct you about the tips. they do not make a difference in sound! but ill agree with you the stock tips do look good.
and ill agree with some of the others on the price, realizing that you didnt pay that much. i would have quoted 450-500. just sayin.
and to all the haters, what a bunch of ignorant drama queens. leave the guy alone. just because you dont like it, you need to talk about how horrible it is? dam, feel lucky that YOU dont have to drive then! and STFU!
again nice job OP.

EDIT: To everyone else that seems to think it should be cheaper, look around and see how much stainless steel costs for a mandrel J bend, figure out how much piping is required, along with all other necessary hardware i.e. flanges, hangers, etc. It's not as cheap as some think.
