Default yet another exhaust question

Ok, so i dont mean to beat a dead horse but i've searched and searched and yet to really find my answer, so maybe someone here can help. I currently own a 2007 350z and ever since i bought it had my heart set on the bassani exhaust. Well up until i heard afew single exhaust 350zs. One in particular the 3in aam. I LOVE the sound of the exhaust, and throw on the test pipes and aam y-pipe. WOW! My question is which set-up would give the best torque gains? In my mind im thinking the single has quite a bit more back pressure so shouldnt that have a bit more torque as well? And im thinking the duals will give a bit more top end hp but it shouldnt be much more then the single if its a 3in right? 3in duals i believe are over-kill on a na v6 car. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

hello,
im not a pro, but what i learned is, single exhaust would give you the best hp/tq on a NA build. true duals are more for FI.

that being said I think the motordyne xyz pipe, and motordyne shockwave gives you the best performance, some ppl like the looks some don't. they have titanium tips to make it look nicer, but from the youtube vids i heard, the exhaust seems super loud, dont know if u'd want it as a daily driver.

good luck!

I would recommend high flow cats instead of test pipes. Also, true dual can yield great gains on NA builds. F single exhausts imo.

I hate to say it but I agree. Sounds raspy and farty in the lower RPMs.

yep, very similar sound to my setup with test pipes. I switched over to hfc pretty quickly.

If the exhaust has higher back pressure then that means even less air is getting through. The Z is already corked up in stocked form, this is evident. An engine is nothing more than an air mover. The more air you move, the more power you make.

However, you require a specific amount of back pressure depending on your cams. Too little back pressure and you lose gas through the exhaust along with good air and lose power. Too much and not all of the spent exhaust exits the cylinder before the valve closes which contaminates the next burn and also nets a loss in power.

I would recommend a higher flowing exhaust system than stock, and then a good tune to adjust the cams as needed for optimum performance.

As normal, an exhaust vid on the internet doesn't sound anything like the real thing. I never heard one complaint about the sound of mine from any of the local Z owners other that how loud it was.

True. In my case I was comparing it to other exhaust setups that I have heard from the internet, that is why I didnt like it.

It can sound totally different in real life tho..
