Wow, this thread is full of confusion. OP: I hope you didn't purchase anything yet. FOCUS on what you want, because you are all over the place! lol

You basically have 2 scenarios-

1) Nismo exhaust, MD XYZ pipe with HFC canister upgrade, Test pipes (in order from rear of car)

or

2) Nismo exhaust, Nismo Y-pipe, Berk HFC (in order from rear of car)

Getting the XYZ AND the Berk HFC is overkill, if I understand the XYZ pipe concept correctly. You would be missing out on the multifunction purpose of the XYZ pipe if you did HFC prior to it.

Hope this helps, and I really hope I am correct. This thread can't stand more confusion! lol

Get a HR y-pipe of of a Z. Should be able to find some for sale. If not, then stick with the Nismo one

imo, i think the md xyz pipe is too expensive...you would probably be better off getting a used true dual system or i guess if you really want a y-pipe, the aam is good for the money. initially, i had the same dilemma as you deciding on a y-pipe for my nismo exhaust...but i got a great deal on a true dual so i changed out the whole exhaust. and honestly, i would go the test pipe route.

That's exactly why I was saying he should just go with test pipes if he gets the MD xyz pipe. I'm not sure how it was confusing.

On another note, everybody chiming in and saying that doing the MD Ypipe/HFC module with test pipes would be so much more expensive obviously hasn't price shopped these things. Let me make the comparison for you...

I did a quick google search for resonated test pipes (for the 350z) and the first three results were priced between $139 and $169. Megan was the cheapest, Intensepower was in the middle, and the highest price came from Ultimate Z. We'll use $169 to be fair.

The Price for the XYZ pipe w/HFC from the Motordyne website is $625

GRAND TOTAL OF $794

Another quick google search for Berk HFC's yielded prices between $400 and $499. We'll go with the $400 ones.

Let's also use the AAM y pipe for discussions sake since it's been mentioned more than a few times here. The price for the AAM y pipe from their website is $399

GRAND TOTAL OF $799

Now OBVIOUSLY you could probably find an even better deal on one or more of these parts and that may help sway your decision in one way or the other. That's also why you should just put your fingers to the keyboard and start researching all of this stuff for yourself.

nice to hear it helped yout out!

i was really confused too! but now am not~ hahaha

i decided to go for Berk HFC's and put them on with my NISMO!

if the Nismo Y pipe fails.. then will get a new Y pipe.. Proably MD or AAM.

if the Berks fail... well they have warrenty! so notting to be worried about.

Has anyone ever try Random Technology Super High Flow Catalytic Converters? I am in the market for an HFC and these were highly recomended to me. However, I've never heard of anyone with a 350Z with them on.

they had a history of cracking... a couple/few years ago there were several reports of problems - thats probably why you don’t see anyone using them today... they may be better these days though, who knows?
