Does a Y-Pipe make that much a difference?
I talked to one of the engineers at Nissan Motorsports and he said that the Y-Pipe is the main thing you should change to get major power. Is this true? I can get one made to look like the top secret y-pipe for 225.00. Don't know if I should do it or not!
Ya know, before I even knew anyone made a aftermarket Y-pipe, I happened to be looking at the exhaust while the car was up in the air on a lift. I was studying it, how could I do it better myself for better flow. I took one look at it's Y-pipe and knew, thats a spot right their. Of course buying a true dual system would eleminate that Y-pipe, but if you don't plan on that, certainly getting a better Y-pipe is a excellent idea. In case you or anyone else hasn't seen what the stock Y-pipe looks like, here's a couple of pics of it on my sedan (Z is the exact same)

I put the new y-pipe on today. I swear it's putting out more power. Looks good too. Pretty much exactly like the top secret y pipe. I'll find out on the dyno on Sept. 20th.
