Default How To Get Y Pipe Bolts Off?

Installing a new exhaust and the bolts that go through the y pipe to connect to the mid pipe will not come off..is there a trick to removing these? I have new bolts I want to use because the current ones are stripped and messed up and rusted to hell and a nut will not go on..

Any help is appreaciated!

Douse with wd-40 and use a breaker bar. If that doesn't work just cut them off. I had to cut a few off once because the bolts were bent a little bit. It sucks but there is no other way.

Another way is to heat the nuts with an oxy/acetylene torch.
Heat them to cherry red and they suddenly become easy to turn.

Works even better than oil but you have to do it quickly.

Were you trying to take them off when the car was cold.

I ran the car for 5-10 minutes to let it get up to temperature before I took them off

I ended up having to take mine to a shop and have them heat the nuts up with a torch, lets just say it was a fun/loud drive back with out any form of exhaust on there lol
