I don't have any experience with the 2 but I'd say to go with NISMO since the pipes are more equal length. The Borla has nice torque gains but very very minimal horsepower gains, since they are NOT equal-length. The NISMO has very nice horsepower and torque gains due to the "equal-length" of the pipes.

And if you really want super duper equal-length headers then wait for Crawford Z Car Service's equal-length headers. Those gain most HP from the dyno charts I've seen, but are yet available.

Does anyone have dyno specs on the Nismo header/exhaust combo and the Borla header/exhaust combo? I am going for hp/torque gain. In this case, the dyno is the bible.

In my opinion I think NISMO is the way to go. Very noticeable difference on the top end. I haven't had any problems with them.

Default Crawford!!:)

If Crawford ever gets his headers out I would recommend those.

Keep in mind you will at least need 6-7 hours for install. Wether or not if you are doing it yourself or paying someone. You want to make the correct choice from the beginning.

Hands down the NISMO header is a good one to have. If you can't wait for the crawford.

I see everyone and their brother only wanting equal length tube headers.... you guys do realize that equal lenth does NOT automatically mean BETTER...

PROPERLY TUNED (which MAY mean different length tubes) headers are the way to go...

SOME headers on SOME applications have different lengths on PURPOSE for TUNING reasons...

I did find this on the Nismo headers:

http://www.350zforum.com/tech/NISMOR...neheaders.aspx

That should help a lot, really, it doesn't quite show the gains that are advertised by it.

Borla makes headers for the Z?

I looked on their site and the only product they have listed for the 350Z is their dual exhaust. What am I missing in looking for the headers?

Too bad they are so expensive! $1100??!!! And that's not icluding install, which you said could run 5-6hrs of labor?!! WOW!
That comes out to roughly $100. per HP!!

The Borla headers can give 10 whp headers alone... they are $595.00 and 4 hours to install!

Yeah, the big thing about the borla headers is what was said by Borla, when they said that the headers "didn't add much". Now that we have prospective of what everyone is producing, that "not much" might be as much as everyone else, as there is not much power to be had out of this engine in the aftermarket. Looks like the Borla headers might give the torque while the exhaust might give the HP, but then again, who knows.

In my case, the combo of Borla Headers, Cats Pipes and Borla TD are the answer of why the (stock) Z is not to fast in the Top End... get it!
In other words is the best combo money can buy... trust me!

thanks to everyone who replied. looks like the overwhelming concensus is for the nismo headers. need some help though, if i get the headers and leave the stock cat., would that restrict my performance gains??? or should i get some aftermarket high flow cats.

Dude, the more money you spend, the more power you will probably get. If you buy the high flow cats, of course you will get more power. It is up to you where you draw the line with your money.
