Default iso thermal gasket HELP!!! DONT WANA GET RIPPED!!

hey guys i recently ordered a motordyne iso therm 5/16 spacer off ebay and the dumbass didnt send the iso thermal gasket that goes on the lower collector along with the white spacers that go under the plenum. well i got a $50 refund from the guy to cover a new bolt kit and he is shipping the iso thermal gasket but i am a lil suspicious cuz he said the mechanics must have kept it then he siad he found it and is shipping to me. my question is how can you tell the diffrence between the stock gasket and the iso thermal gasket?? i think this bastard might try to send me a stock gasket just so i can close my paypal dispute.. any help is appreciated THANKS

if you're speaking of the Aramid gasket that sits between the lower collector and the intake, then I am not sure if there is any way to tell the difference. i think the colouring might be a bit dissimilar. you could always PM Hydrazine (Tony with Motordyne) and i'm sure he can answer your question. great guy to work with, so don't hesitate.

Mine didn't look that much different from the stock gasket that I can remember now... Motordyne should be able to tell you I would think.

your stock gasket is metal and the one you will get from motordyne is a paper/cardboard type that you cover in oil and when it is heated will swell and insure no leaks.

as for missing the spacers, you should get those as the help you upper intake seat to the lower intake.

The Aramid gasket is quite different from the stock gasket.

The Stock gasket is a rigid black metal crush gasket and is about 0.020" thick.

The Aramid gasket is a gray, dense nitrile impregnated gasket that is about 0.0625" thick. Its soft and flexible.

it was very similar to the ones you send. i noticed when removing the original that it was a slightly different color (lighter) than the one you sent with my MRev... it required some scraping to remove, so it certainly wasn't metal... it may not have been OEM, as i was the second owner of the car...but, i highly doubt it was aftermarket as the car had no mods and only 8k on the odometer...

this was years ago, though...so my memory might be a bit skewed...

Tony, have there been any changes since the one after the beta-test version?... I swapped the beta for version 2 a few yrs back... I'm doing some cosmetic mods in the engine bay (including minor plenum stuff) and figured I'd take a look at how the gasket is holding up while things are apart... if there is a newer version (other than the one replacing beta version) I might as well install it while I'm there.

Also, is the Aramid gasket "soft and flexible" after long-term use?

Yes, it changed after the beta version. And yes, they stay soft and flexible after long-term use.

I have the first change (after beta) - I'm wondering if there have been any other changes since then?... I'll take a look at it this weekend and order a new one if needed - in fact, maybe I'll order one anyway just to have it so I dont have to re-do later... can you PM price for gasket only ~
