Stock Filter
I have a couple questions about the stock intake. First off: is it a cai? When do I need to replace or clean the air filter? If I get the k&n filter, should I throw the stock filter away or will people actually buy it?
The intake is basically the tube and air filter, how effective would it be if I just bought a stillen, injen or jwt tube and replaced by stock tube? Or if I just bought a jwt or injen or stillen filter and replaced with stock while keeping the stock tube? Sorry for asking random noob questions but wanted to know more about the stock intake and what I would do with it since I dont want to spend couple hundred on new intakes.

No need for new intakes. Drop ins will do fine, unless you want the slightly louder growl. I did. I am satisfied, but looking back I wouldn't have wasted my money but oh well. It's a hobby.

Hmm.. That's a good question. I believe though that you'd just be wasting money on just tubes since I'm assuming that that's where most your money is going to anyway. F it dude. You only live once. Go aftermarket for the hell of it. You may or may not gain any HP gains, but who cares, and there are many who will argue otherwise.

+1 to all of this. If you are looking for any type of gains, you can purchase a 2006 OEM air box on the forum and replace your current one with it.(assuming you don't have a 2006 already) The 2006 box is supposed to flow a little better because of the small velocity stack inside.
If you want blig, and more "growl" noise, go for it!!! But don't expect any real gains from an intake on this car. The OEM intake is already cold air intake by design.
But as the other poster said, don't sweat the small mods. If you get an intake and don't like it, you can always sell iton the forum and go back to stock.
P.S. i have an Amsoil Drop in for sale for cheap!! --------->https://my350z.com/forum/intake/4283...airfilter.html
