Default Solution for 5/16 spacer and kinetix v+

after installing a v+ plenum with my current 5/16 spacer the hood hits the plenum. already spaced hood 1/4" but still hits

Why would you want to do that? Its only designed for stock plenum, and you are not going to yield more power from adding kinetix on top of 5/16 spacer.

TROLL

if you seriously did this: don't.

remove the kinetix and throw it away. if you are stupid and don't want to do that: just take the hood off.

Please dyno it , you may be on to something. If its worth it , worry about making it fit under your hood

You should stack two kenetix plenums together.

Just before you take it off, get a video of the kinetix plenum wildly huffing up and down.

While you take a video of it, have a friend start the car and give the gas pedal a few stabs with the engine running.

You will be quite surprised at the result.

But definitely remove one or the other. The kinetix won't last long before it implodes.

I have to be honest, i loose respect for companies that try to make a sale by pointing out other companies weaknesses. Even if this was true you, you should allow your product to speak for itself, vice speaking out for other product's potential flaws. That sends a MUCH more positive message to the consumer.

When i had my Kinetix i did this test because i heard the same thing from others. Come to find out it pertains to the origional Kinetix plenum which is no longer produced. The V+ is more sturdy and doesn't "breathe" like the first edition thinner ones did.

as you can see - http://www.kinetixracing.com/kinetix...zg3503-06.aspx

the V+ is shaped like the original plenum......but by design, its meant to replace the oem "not so tall" plenum and allow more air.

adding a spacer to that just negates its entire existence...........and obviously doesn't fit.

done.

/thread.

Hi halfass872;7232017,

I wasn't saying anything bad about the Kinetix. (or at least I didn't intend for it to come out that way.) The only reason it would implode is because (IF it is used with a spacer) that would be using it in a way that it wasn't designed for. And that is the reason for it huffing.

The Kinetix plenum has a central support column that is designed to rest against the bottom plenum. This is what gives it the support it needs.

If a spacer is used under the Kinetix, it lifts that central support column off the bottom plenum... and that is the reason (or cause) for the huffing.

I wasn't making a jab at Kinetix, I was pointing out how its misuse can cause damage to it.

I know because I tried it with a friend about 4 years ago. He wanted to try a spacer on his Kinetix. We tried this combination for about 5 minutes before the spacer came right back off..

And no, I don't recommend for the two to be used together. As I've posted many times before, spacers and aftermarket plenums cannot, or should not, be combined. It can only be one or the other.

Tony
